Statement of Purpose

Highly intrigued by my elder brother, a human resource specialist, who spent most of his time experimenting with business concepts, I gradually developed interest in logics and before I could realize, I was on my way to a journey filled with calculations, revelations and discoveries. By the time I reached high school, I understood the logic behind money making money and developed a desire to understand the nuances of the field. Realizing this, I decided to take up Commerce for my undergraduate studies so that I can be a part of this change to make our society a better place to live in. My name is [NAME] and this is the prime reason why I am interested in doing a full-time MBA from this University. Being awarded the opportunity to study further in my field is a stupendous opportunity for me. This course offers me the platform to experience the deep insights that are required for a professional with international exposure.

I could have even done any similar course in India as well but my motivation to do it from Canada is to dive into the Global Perspective of Business Management and also to experience a truly diverse culture that Canada is known for. In recent years, the business world has become rapidly integrated across once restricting borders, and anyone with high goals in the business world must have a global frame of mind and be aware of the realities of different international arenas. Study in Canada would offer me a critically more challenging course curriculum in accordance to global business environments that could enable me to get exposure of world class innovative working strategies & methodologies. Also, an abroad MBA credential is much more appealing than an MBA degree from an Indian Institution.

When today I look back into my journey, the first thing that imprints in my psyche is my home town [CITY] which is a town located in the foothills of Himalayas. It is a small yet significant and beautiful place. After my schooling from my home town, I did my graduation from the prestigious [UNIVERSITY NAME], [CITY]. During my graduation, I attended several workshops dealing with the practicalities of trading and marketing held in my college. They gave us experiential learning tasks by allotting mock business drills which really helped me put my classroom learning to practical use and increased my hunger to gain advanced knowledge in the area to achieve expertise in the subject. Post that I had to start working due to financial turmoil in my family so I was unable to take admission in a full time Master's degree program. However, I accomplished my Part time Post Graduate Degree in Commerce from [UNIVERSITY NAME], [CITY]. But, now after realizing the fact that to avail more productive career opportunities in future I would be required a sound academic profile along with extensive working experience. So, giving a detailed thought to this fact I started researching about my further study options and found that through this MBA program, I can increase my knowledge and connections on a global scale, as well as my marketability for job offers and network.

Two things I would like to throw light upon, about my academics. First is that I have never had any trouble in moving out of my comfort zone to gain academic excellence, so clearly, distance and location does not matter to me either. Secondly, I have invariably achieved good marks throughout my academics from Grade 1. I have always thrived to maintain an optimum level and at the same time, I participated in other activities like being the School Representative in Social Science Exhibitions, Debates and Dance programmes, Class Representative, book reading events etc. So, for me, the focus was never on being a bookworm but was on gaining practical knowledge, life skills and its implementation in the real world both personally and professionally.

During my period of working in the two different companies, I have garnered the experience of learning to develop and utilize the various personality traits in each person in order to reach a collective goal. After my graduation I had started my career with [COMPANY NAME] which is one of the leading publishers in India and is known for its distribution. Although I was appointed as a Sales Representative, but looking at my interest in writing, I was promoted as Content Writer in the first month. As a content writer my primary responsibilities encapsulated formatting and editing of e-books, listing the books on various E-learning platforms such as Kindle, Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, Google Play Books, kobo Writing Life etc. and creating summary of the books by communicating directly to the authors. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the company downsized it operations and I lost my job. Thereafter, I joined [COMPANY NAME] which is an American business services company specializing in customer engagement and business performance as Customer Advisor, Technical Support. I'm currently working in this company and I primary handle customer handling, understanding customer's issue and providing end-to-end resolution.

The research into various university' curricula ended at this University as the subject matter included various aspects of financial management that I was longing to study and it perfectly suits my academic needs. During my time here, I would actively be a part of rigorous graduate projects and research opportunities. Working on multiple projects as a team or individually under the expert guidance of professors would help me gain in-depth knowledge. The amount of knowledge and the level of hands-on experience gained from such projects would be truly astounding.

I would like to be the financial advisor or the Financial Analyst in a multinational company to understand and put the knowledge to practice before I would like to step into the entrepreneurial zone. I have basic knowledge of the subject and possess good communication and analytical skills. I have an outstanding academic and co-scholastic record that is enclosed with my application. With a master's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance, I shall be able to get the expert knowledge in the area that will enable me to fulfil my dreams. I am excited to group up with different peer groups from different cultural backgrounds, which will help me understand people better going forward. This higher education suits me and my requirements in all the aspects. Having said that, the program design and outcome when it comes to knowledge application, I believe I have made the right decision after complete research. I believe my experience with this university would nurture my country's future growth and I strongly wish that it would act as an anchoring milestone in my professional career.

Certainly, this decision is not an easy one when you are living a truly cherished life, staying with your parents and being able to take care of them, which is enough to put anyone in their comfort zone. Leaving behind your family, a well-paid job, hard-earned savings and your country for 2 years to follow your dreams is not a cakewalk, especially in these VUCA times. This resolution is even more gruelling for girls like me even today in our society, who have their roots in a middle-class family and I aim to become an inspiration for our people that there is nothing called impossible in the world and it is okay to break the norms and do the unusual. I want to break the shackles and prove myself.
