STATEMENT OF PURPOSE – Business Analysis and Strategic Management

Decisions have the ability to alter the rest of your life. But I believe this decision of mine will alter my life ahead for the best. Putting together these years of learning at school to acquiring professional skills and knowledge during my term of office at [COMPANY_1], has prepared me not only for the corporate world but the world in its entirety. I come from a family of successful doctors and engineers and it has been a challenging journey ever since I chose a distinctive path for myself. I have a keen interest in the field of business and this is what brings me here today. I wish to pursue my masters in Business Analysis and Strategic Management from your acclaimed university to help me acquire the required skills, practical knowledge and experience.

Soon after my graduation, I got an opportunity to embark on my corporate life journey with [COMPANY_1]. I have worked on various assignments which involves cross border mergers & acquisitions, inbound & outbound investment structuring, corporate restructuring and business development. It has pushed me into conducting in depth research and analyzing the business environment, the complications of doing business in various developing, under developed or third world countries and to identify target companies. For a particular assignment, as we thought on a high-level basis, we had a fair chance of successfully setting up a subsidiary in Burkina Faso, Botswana and Cote d'Ivoire, we could foresee only a fraction of the numerous complexities that these engagements have. After several weeks of intricate study and analysis, we got our implementation through. Those weeks of strenuous efforts kept me more engrossed. In that moment I discovered what I really want to do and where I want to be.

Over the years with [COMPANY_1], I have constantly strived to keep up with the ongoing business trends and news alerts on the global and domestic front, I have acquired a mind that can think critically and work under pressure and stringent deadlines. I received the "[COMPANY_1] Value Award" for my efforts and dedication towards preparing presentations, for the diligent research and analysis on cross border mergers for a session that was presented across all [COMPANY_1] India locations. [COMPANY_1] has been a milestone for my career decision, and I've come a step closer to my aspirations.

My under-graduation programme in management has helped me gain the fundamental knowledge relating to business law, micro & macroeconomics, human resource management, financial management amongst other subjects. I have worked on assignments and group projects that includes the analysis of [COMPANY_2]'s marketing strategies, resources management and sustainable development, China as the WTO member, etc. These topics have helped me build my understanding and get insight into the functioning of businesses and how they are gaining momentum, but not entirely. Therefore, a master's degree will help hone my skills and direct my energy and my efforts on to the right path.

Alongside my academic and professional endeavors, I have been actively involved in cultural, social activities and sports events throughout my school and college life. I have a keen interest in poetry and have a blog called [BLOG_NAME]. In 2018, I won the "Earn your badge" contest sponsored by [COMPANY_1] where my poetry was chosen the best amongst 500 other entries. I always have had an affinity towards sports and have represented my school in various sports events like CBSE basketball clusters and interschool competitions. I have also been a member of the poetry and dance club during my formative years at school.

Lest I forget, my mother always reminded me that reading sculpts an individual's mind and their personality. And that is how I acquired the love for reading books, journals, but particularly novels. Having lost my mother when I was 10 years old, I live through the words and her teachings. I make time for my passion and aim on doing that for the following years to come. I would always want to strike a chord of balance between my academics and extra-curriculars.

The ever-changing world has encouraged the intensification of international competition, where every business is keen on growth and to go beyond the boundaries of its domestic markets. But with growth & internationalization, comes competition, cross-population hindrances and trans-cultural complications. It is precisely based on this, that I wish to pursue my Masters to earn extensive expertise in the subject matter of my choice and begin with my consulting journey.

I have always admired the multi-cultural environment, the rich historical & cultural background and the beauty of United Kingdom. Given this opportunity to study here will be a thrilling experience. I am interested in pursuing my masters degree at your university as it has a well-structured and detailed curriculum that will help me acquire the practical & technical proficiency, the business acumen and increase my overall effectiveness. To study abroad is like a box of several emotions put together.
