STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

"Sustainability creates and controls the conditions under which humans and nature can exist."

I believe in the above quote and wish to bring sustainable solutions for environmental development. Its focus on approaching growth that looks to balance diverse and often opposing needs against an awareness of the ecological, social, and economic limitations we face as a society. What I think is the fundamental principle of sustainable development is living within our environmental extremities. But yes, again, it doesn't limit to the environment only but instead ensures a stable and healthy society. And I am willing to pursue my career in this field.

During my under-graduation time, I started thinking deeply about the development inequalities existing around the world. Different kinds of developed, developing, and underdeveloped nations, various forms of existence, and their development challenges. To learn more about these inequalities and to show a new light to the world, I decided to join the course, M.A. Development Studies, at one of the reputed institutions in India, the [UNIVERSITY]. I have developed a comprehensive perception of the fundamental principles of Development studies as an academic discipline. And from here, I started imagining contributing to the environmental development domain.

I have completed my bachelor's in English Literature and then a Master of Arts in Development studies. Literature studies have helped me develop my communication skills, acquire literary movements, and adapt to arguing points. It also stimulated my intellectual curiosity and encouraged me to be critical in thinking. It was a base for me to study further an M.A. in Development studies. This course has enabled me to learn a lot, and I realized that the nations should strive for 'Development' and the tag 'Sustainable Development.' I was most fascinated by such courses as Society & Culture, Government & Politics, and Economics of Good Governance. My internships at the District Planning office, [CITY], Kerala, have given me primary exposure to the policy framework procedure. I worked as a planning intern there. After that, I took part in a projects case study on coastal areas of [DISTRICT] district of Kerala and another project on Ethnographic study at [CITY] Assam. These projects have taught me leadership quality and teamwork. I have remained program head in project [PROJECT_NAME]—a sustainability project organized by [COLLEGE], Kerala. Here I successfully conveyed the idea of 'reduce, reuse and recycle' among the students and other communities inside the college.

I have tried to establish a career in the sustainable development domain, and throughout my tenure of academics and work experience, I have a profound base for my field. Many workshops I attended to gather knowledge and grow my skills for pursuing a successful career in development. Workshops like 'Exploring Sustainability in the Indian Context' by [UNIVERSITY], "Smart and Sustainable Cities" organized by [UNIVERSITY], on "Training on Youth Leadership and Community Development" by [ORGANIZATION], and [ORGANIZATION] Online Course on Principles of Human Resource Management are the part of my journey to reach at the optimum level in my niche. I am still urged to have expert knowledge that can help me in my career goal, so I want to advance my studies in a Master's program.

I believe an MSc in Sustainable Development is imperative for expanding my horizon and bridging my knowledge gap. My concern is to increase the capacity to carry out research and understand how various factors affect people at a grassroots level. Moreover, my prime concern is to develop a sustainable solution to the development challenges faced by countries all around the globe. Course study includes innovation and economic development modules, policy analysis, sustainable development politics and policies, views, methods, and skills for technology, and innovation studies. It will end with a dissertation on sustainable development, which will give and practical understanding of my study tenure.

In terms of my career, attaining this Master's degree will enable me to gain expertise at a higher level in my chosen field. Upon completing my Master's degree, I would also like to work in research centres and other government organizations dealing with the developmental agendas of these issues mentioned above. I do not doubt that development studies at your University will meet the criteria of intellectual rigor that I have set for myself, my education, and those I have promised to serve.

The [UNIVERSITY] faculty of Sustainable development is quite prominent among its counterparts in the field. It has received 1st rank in World development studies. I am particularly attracted by its powerful pedagogical resource, vibrant intellectual atmosphere, and comprehensive curriculum. Interdisciplinary social science training necessary for careers and which is focused on sustainability will be provided. The university program will broadly develop and improve my understanding of the contemporary issues affecting developing countries and developed countries worldwide. It will enable me to know and understand how other people view issues of development in their countries. The program will also offer a solid grounding in research in development studies and enhance my understanding of the field. I do not doubt that development studies at the [UNIVERSITY] will meet the criteria of intellectual rigor that I have set for myself, for my education, and for those I have promised to serve.
