Statement of Purpose

I have been an admirer of Technology since I was a little child. Especially playing video games made me wonder how these games were developed. I always wanted to make a game of my own. As a kid, I would ask tons of questions to my mother about how games and applications are built. She, being a computer science professor, would answer my questions but my little brain could not absorb them. My mother has been a great source of motivation and assistance in my pursuit of my desired job. She patiently answered all my questions related to computer science as a kid. I would always open my command prompt and type a few random lines in the hopes of turning it into a game. This curiosity of mine led me to take Computer Application as an elective in my 9th grade where I was introduced to Java, OOPs, Data Structures and Algorithms. In the first few classes, I was able to grasp everything my teacher taught very quickly. This sparked a strong desire to learn more about the subject. I was obsessed with writing pattern programs during my school. I loved writing a solution code for problems in the real world. This is when I discovered how much I enjoy coding and I want to pursue my career towards this.

I finished my schooling at [SCHOOL_NAME], Hyderabad, India where I was among the top group of students from my school. I was also awarded for securing 95% in Computer Applications. I was also a top-performing participant in Maths and Computer Olympiad during my school years. Then, for my Intermediate, I chose Mathematics, which is the course required to pursue a career in engineering. I knew I'd have to put in a lot of effort if I wanted to enroll in a computer-related course at a reputable university. I completed my intermediate education with a good score and got into one of the most esteemed institutions of Hyderabad, the [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. I completed my Engineering in the Department of Information Technology in the years 2017-2021. During these years, I specifically enjoyed studying subjects like Mathematics, Java, Data Structures and Algorithms, Web Development, and Data Analysis. I articulated my knowledge and put into use my technical skills through several projects, internships, and assignments. I applied the knowledge of C++ during my 1st year to develop a Pac-Man game, which had long been a dream of mine. Later, I was able to build projects like a Full-Stack Web Application and a CNN network to detect covid-19 using X-rays.

Apart from my studies, I was always involved in our school's cultural activities, which helped me build leadership and management abilities as well as an outgoing personality. I love talking to people and learning about their experiences, background, and viewpoints. During my under graduation, I took the opportunity to participate and host many events/competitions during the [EVENT_NAME]; an annual event hosted by our college. I was also a member of student body chapters such as the Orators club and ACM (Association of Computing Machinery), where I got the opportunity to learn things I did not know about computing. Outside college, I was interested in football and e-sports. My friends and I were able to arrange a number of football and gaming tournaments and events, as well as secure sponsors. Apart from organizing I am an active participant in similar events and competitions. I have led a team of five as an In-game leader for a game 'CS-GO' and had many high-performing online events as a team. Along with sports one of my other hobbies is VFX and animations. During the pandemic, I was freelancing as a graphic designer and animator. These hobbies of mine helped me to improve skills that I could use further in my career. While sports helped me with skills like team coordination and strategizing in-game obstacles, graphic designing was helpful for my creativity and thinking out of the box.

I always enjoy work that requires logical reasoning, especially when it leads to practical applications. I strangely love seeing errors to my code. I approach them as challenges and they help me learn and understand concepts better because of the extra research required to solve them. My ideal vision of a career was always a job that involves creativity, innovation, and critical thinking. Currently, I am working as an Associate Software Engineer for the past 5 months at [COMPANY_NAME], where I've been learning and working on Front-end (Angular) development along with its unit testing for a project of [CLIENT_NAME] (Insurance company). Previously, I had a 3 months internship as a configuration specialist at [COMPANY_NAME], where I was able to learn the relationship between software and hardware components and also benchmark hardware efficiency with respect to different software applications.
