STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

# Introduction

My name is [NAME]; I live in a beautiful town [CITY] which is located in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. I am fortunate to be born in a family where education is always given a priority. My parents always encourage me to ascend academically right from my school days. My family taught me morals and ethics and the importance of life values. I am applying for a student visa for United Kingdom at [UNIVERSITY] for pursuing my studies in MSc Project Management.

# Glimpse of My Academics

Basically, I have completed my graduation from [COLLEGE], which is affiliated to [UNIVERSITY] in [CITY]. I have done my 4th semester internship at [CITY] in Himachal Pradesh, where I practically performed Compass Surveying, Chain Surveying, Theodolite, Table Surveying etc. and made a map of that area consisting reduced level, contour, fencing, pathways, electric poles etc.

Furthermore, I did my 8th semester internship at [CITY] in [CITY] (J&K) under [COMPANY] where I learnt the basic principle of engineering and got a good exposure and knowledge of Tunnel Engineering. I have worked on many projects during my undergraduate course but I would specifically like to mention my final year project titled, 'Foot Bridge'. While working on this project, I learnt many basics about the construction problems faced in the planning, execution and control of an overhead bridge without disturbing the normal traffic. I was lucky enough to get practical knowledge of construction of the Foot Bridge which was under construction next to my college on National Highway. I also learnt the leadership quality being a leader of the group.

Moreover, in my under graduation, I also used to participate in extra co-curricular activities like singing, dancing in college fests, quiz competitions, sports, creative programs like bridge designing with scrap and many others. Luckily I was awarded in most of the events.

# Experience

Obtaining the qualification as a Civil Engineer and my experience in the past few years at [COMPANY] in [CITY], Haryana was one of the most interesting yet exhausting experiences of my life, although it was both physically and emotionally demanding; it instilled in me a resolute desire to study and practice Project Management. In [COMPANY], I was appointed as a Project Engineer and was working on different aspects of Projects like Site Measures, Water Conservation, Material Conservation, Energy Conservation, Indoor Environment Quality etc. While working on these aspects, I started developing keenness towards project management. In Project Management, I see a purposeful and versatile vocation yet what I love most is its fusion of technical core with management.

# Why This Course

This MSc programme will help me to explore myself in the practical business area. This degree will give me a chance to gain more knowledge about project management; practical and technical competencies in the real world. By the end of course, I will be able to plan my project effectively, estimating time factors accurately and handling the work of different projects efficiently. I will have useful tools for risk analysis which I can apply to a wide range of solutions and I will be able to cost the different elements of my project accurately and monitor my project budget. The management part would be a bonus and provide extra edge to start career as a manager.
