Statement of Purpose

I have always been a project management enthusiast since my working days. In fact, I have learned business strategic planning by suggesting ideas to the client end for process improvement. Working for seven years as a development and business analyst has given me deeper insights into the industry and its operations. However, while executing my roles, I felt that a formal education in project management would help me perform even better and therefore my application to the M.Sc Project Management program.

After the Master's, I would like to take up the role of a Project Manager with an IT conglomerate such as [COMPANY_A] or [COMPANY_B] and be responsible for the projects right from the start to the end—from conception to planning, execution, monitoring, and completion. In the long term, I see myself as the PMO of the IT vertical of the organization I will be part of.

An academically oriented student, I scored well in secondary and senior high school and enrolled for a Bachelor's in Information Technology at [UNIVERSITY_A]. This college laid the foundation of my rendezvous with Information Technology—a rendezvous that continues till date and inspires me to be associated with this field, albeit in a decision-making position. Navigating my way through the interdisciplinary coursework, projects, and internships, I completed my undergraduate with good scores and bagged a campus placement offer with [COMPANY_C], and thus began my journey into the field of Information Technology.

# Professional Experience

The last eight years have seen me play various roles—from ServiceNow Admin to Technical Lead, Senior ServiceNow Developer, and Lead Consultant and Business Analyst.

My initiation into project management, albeit at a smaller scale, happened quite early in my career where I was given the opportunity to create business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and UI Actions as per the requirements at [COMPANY_C]. While working for the client [COMPANY_D], along with developmental activities, I also communicated with the end-users and understood the difficulties and accordingly improved automation and efficiencies in ServiceNow. I have interacted with stakeholders, users, and customers for gathering requirements to arrive at design solutions and have also conducted peer reviews on update sets for weekly releases of the SCRUM process.

At [COMPANY_E], along with my technical roles, I also mentored a team of 5 in terms of their learning, prioritizing current release stories, managing work pressure, and making sure the team completed them as per the Go-live plan, removing obstacles and shielding the team from external interference and distractions to keep growing the progress.

Being a fast learner, a strong planner, and a problem solver who readily adapts to change, I have been able to successfully lead teams, juggle multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality and integrity. My work has helped me win accolades and awards, including the Innovation of the Year award twice. Simultaneously, in order to upskill myself and keep myself updated with the latest in technology, I have undertaken various certifications.

This degree will help me get a formal understanding of project management in a global context.
