Statement of Purpose

# MSc. in Management (HRM, Techno-managerial programs)

They say "A moment of realization is worth a thousand prayers!" While managing an open mic event in 2019, looking at how successfully I had managed the event from scratch, I started pondering upon the entire process. At that moment I realized how well I could manage things, delegate work, analyze people and handle situations all at the same time. It is expected from great managers that they assess people based on their strengths and weaknesses, so as to take the organization towards the collective goal of success. This moment was like an internal explosion that made me realize how I have always been into managing teams, leading people, delegating work, etc. right from my school time. This ignited me to learn more things about management and pursue it professionally also. Fortunately, my decisiveness stepped in and I decided to pursue a master's degree in the management sector.

Throwing some light on my trajectory until now, I completed my graduate (B. Tech.) degree in Computer Science & Engineering from [UNIVERSITY NAME], [CITY], India. In my 4 years of graduation, I actively participated in many academic and co-curricular activities. Most of my project ideas towards the end of my graduation were based on the grounds that they could be harnessed into a potential startup plan. For instance, my final year major project idea was to build a freelance platform for students to buy, sell and develop the projects that they created as mini-projects, during their course duration. The idea also was meant to help the younger generation of students to become financially self-dependent and also to help students learn to code under the National Education Policy 2020 implemented by the Government of India. This project idea was copyrighted from the Copyright Ministry of the Government of India. We also published a research paper on this project topic in a renowned journal. Working on projects professionally has always taught me a lot of things about teamwork and managing people to achieve the expected results. Throughout my bachelor's degree, I have had many opportunities to work in teams, whether it be giving presentations, pitching ideas, group discussions, product surveys, or the healthy competition within the team, I have always contributed my best and learned from the failures in the process. Failures are nothing but experiences to embrace and to learn from. I saw all these academic activities as an opportunity to meet new people, build a network, learn from them, get to know new perspectives, and get exposure.

My multitasking abilities, astuteness, perseverance & leadership skills make me a suitable candidate for graduate school. Along with academics, I was engaged in many co-curricular activities. There were times when I had to manage my project work, academics, participating & managing sports & extracurricular activities, none of which had an adverse effect on my efficiency or thinking ability. Instead, I developed my time management skills. There are multiple instances where I have shown my leadership qualities. I led my college cricket team for 3 years and also got an opportunity to represent my university at Zonal Level in the same sport. I was chosen as the non-technical lead for the Association of Computer Engineering Students ([ORGANIZATION ACRONYM]) of my college, under which we conducted various cultural & social events. This is where I developed a keen interest in social service and founded my own government-registered NGO working towards the eradication of taboo around the topics of sex education and menstrual hygiene management by training students through sessions and spreading awareness on them. As a small contribution to the society that I live in, I have personally trained almost 1700 students about these topics and I wish to keep up the good work.

Also being a writer, storyteller, and public speaker, I have also helped almost 250+ of my fellow local artists to express their art through various open mic events in and around [CITY] on our own platform. These events and activities have helped me acquire public speaking skills, greater communication skills, and better managerial skills also. Through my NGO, I've worked with a varying team size of 30-50 interns and it has been nothing less than a full of the learning experience. While working on these taboo topics, there have been situations that involved high pressure and needed spontaneity in decision making. My strengths of decision-making and taking tough calls have helped tremendously in such situations. Being an active reader, whenever I face difficulties in managing teams, I turn towards books like 'Judgement on the Frontline', or 'Training & Development' etc., and try to research, read and implement the solution.

The United Kingdom has always provided international students with a diverse and accepting culture. London is known for having a young optimistic and energetic crowd. I wish to pursue a Masters in Management (MSc.) program at your esteemed university. This program caters to all of my needs of learning people management skills. Since MSc. in Management doesn't mandatorily require work experience, this program will offer me an opportunity to learn from a blend of young fresh talents and also the ted talks of corporate experienced students. Your program also enhances practical learning along with theoretical knowledge which is a huge plus point. [more specification about courses to be put after shortlisting colleges]

After I complete my master's from your prestigious university, I believe that I would have acquired valuable business-related and people management skills. In the future, I would like to see myself working and contributing my best skills to a multinational firm. I am sure that your program will be a stepping stone for my future aspirations. However, with the aim of getting more clarity about my future career goals, I expect this program to act as a bridge between my past & future and help me make a more concrete decision.

Kind Regards,
