PERSONAL STATEMENT
[NAME] MSc International Management
Like many other children from the income-secure Indian middle class, I grew with an aspiration to experience life at the dreamy thresholds of life. But I was not the child who discovered the 'how' part of it at the age of five, even when I was always a hardworking girl who strived for the best. Since I started to fathom my passions, I would always picture myself as a phenomenal corporate woman. I first thought it was because I grew up watching my father build his own company from scratch across the land of Saudi Arabia through his pure diligence and determination, or in simple words, the art of intelligent extraction of money. But along the process of growth and conflicts, I have identified my genuine aptitude in enhancing human capabilities and management, which courses like cross-cultural management will best nourish. Because of the very same reason, I believe, MSc International Management at [UNIVERSITY] is the right place to leverage the pedagogy of business strategy and ascend to a better future that I aspire.
In the pursuit of discovering my self and strengths, my teenage self's belief in 'failing forward', my growing fascination with human behaviour and society inspired me to pursue my graduation in Social Sciences. Being a [UNIVERSITY] student helped me comprehend the macro-social dynamics and robustly defined my values and motives. The learning was not just encapsulated within the spectrum of liberal studies but also deconstructed realities, allowed self-identification, and was about unlearning hijacked imaginations. My choice of opting Psychology, Sociology, and Economics as my core credit courses apart from gender, development, human rights, sustainability, research methodologies, and others built a thorough foundation in the concept of inclusivity and for a multidisciplinary assessment.
Being a Mentee of the [ORGANIZATION] 2021 program exposed me to a united world of successful women like [NAME], [NAME], and [NAME]. It became the Banyan tree under which I realised that management was not just about structuring the organisation and work of employees but also their careers. It awakened my passion for putting skin in the game of the management of diversity and inclusion companies. The opportunities to participate in several debates and conduct a fieldwork study in a village in Maharashtra have accelerated my confidence in presenting an idea or an argument convincingly to a group. The raging pandemic also played a patronising role in channelling me to invest my energy to pursue online courses in the related fields for my professional development and attend several enlightening webinars. It also elicited my inventiveness to gauge academic imagination and realise the power of research.
I truly vouch that every individual got a leader in themselves; it is just the series of opportunities that tune the skill. Starting from representing the school team in several competitions, being the vice head of my school, being an active member of clubs as well as one of the founders of the western dance club at the [UNIVERSITY], taking an active role in the organising committee for several campus events including the National Rural Youth Festival, and volunteering for social causes to being a Millennium Fellow of 2021 have all enabled me to hold my team management, strategic thinking and leadership abilities. The HR internship experience with the [ORGANIZATION] has also fortified my decision as it provided practical experience in the field. Apart from that, being a woman, though privileged, who grew up in a country (Saudi Arabia) that had openly shadowed women under a male guardian until the recent past and being originally from a country of several change-making women that still has a considerable population of economically active women with their true potentials to be unleashed, has pushed me to realise my creative capabilities and to 'lead, inspire and include' those around me.
Studying in the United Kingdom would not just enrich me with their long reputed global academic excellence and sophisticated cultural atmosphere, but would also be the right place to boost my inventiveness in both my career and academic life. It is a melting pot of highly motivated students from across the globe. A world-renowned institute like the [UNIVERSITY] would provide the highest quality of meticulous instruction that would allow me to pitch the elbow room for more engaging and innovative global business and management ideologies. Apart from the finely chosen modules of this programme and the clearly outlined and intensive course structure, its innovative scheme to engage and learn with several industry experts would provide the most demanding exposure needed to cater for my career goals. I am excited to be an active part of several clubs and even be a student ambassador if given an opportunity. I would also engage with rigorous study and rich discussions with leading academics as a valuable student and an innovative professional. The learning experience would be intellectually enhancing to engage with the future corporate vanguards, which would give me a competitive advantage in the job market as a globally oriented person with independent thinking and a deep-rooted academic foundation.
