# LETTER OF MOTIVATION
While completing my undergraduate degree in Robotics and Automation Engineering, I picked up the new modern trends in technology which aim to make our world a simpler place. Through my courses, I gained factual knowledge about how to work with processors like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The undergraduate program has built the essential foundation and the Diploma program provided me with the skills of Computer Programming and Basics knowledge in Electronics. Now, by doing my postgraduate in the MSc Autonomous Systems program at [UNIVERSITY], [CITY], I hope will gain insight knowledge and strengthen my career.
As I entered into the core of Robotics and Automation, I started to work on many projects which have increased my interest in the field. One of the projects I worked was in the field of Hydraulics and Pneumatics systems, where I came up with the innovative view of using four jaws in a Pneumatic Gripper. I computed and derived the mathematical parameters and used it for designing the 3D model by Solidworks and published the same in a journal paper. Later on, I worked on autonomous pick and place robot using Raspberry PI and OpenCV libraries, which automatically detects the object and performs the operation on it. Apart from that, I have served on practical projects like, "Super Resolution using Neural Network." I further, did a three months internship in the field of Machine learning (ML) and deep learning in [CITY], where I did a project on "Image Synthesis using DCGAN".
I have likewise presented a project in the field of Computer vision, entitled "License Plate Detection and Data Retrieval System," where I captured the images of license plates and performed image processing techniques using OpenCV concepts. And also, I did a project on "Computer Vision in Surveillance Camera with Temperature Monitoring" using computer vision and CNN concepts. In this we used a haar cascade classifiers and face recognition module. Later, due to Covid19 pandemic, temperature monitoring was also integrated with the project. It automatically detects the person, measures their temperature and displays it on a screen. During my Diploma final year, I did a project in the field of Autonomous Robots, by making an autonomous firefighting and vacuum cleaning robot using Raspberry PI and Arduino. The robot can perform actions like cleaning the floor whilst avoiding obstacles and can also detect a fire and act on it. Last but not the least, I did a project in the field of Agricultural Robots for a competition held in [UNIVERSITY]. I made a Hybrid Solar Drying robot using Atmega Microcontroller. It performs task like drying the crops and cereals. Further, it can be used as a Storage place. Additionally, it has a solar tracking system, which faces the solar panel according to the direction of the sun, and hence gets more energy. Our team won 1st place in the competition with the help of this robot.
Apart from academics, I have worked on drones and organized some Drone Race events in my College. I have participated in some robotics competitions and attended some workshops too. The competitions gave me a chance to develop robots like Maze solver, Path Navigation Robot, Autonomous pick and place robot and other drones, and built in me an interest to do my Master's in Autonomous Systems. Through the workshops, I leant how to control the motion of the bot using the brain signal and how to design import 3D models and do animation on it. Currently, I'm the secretary of [ORGANIZATION] and also leading two teams to organize technical events and workshops as a part of [ORGANIZATION] and [ORGANIZATION].
The main attraction of the MSc Autonomous System program is its curriculum, the practical exposure, and research projects in the field of Autonomous Mobile Robots. I'm especially interested in courses like 'Autonomous Mobile Robots', 'Planning and Scheduling' and 'Mobile Manipulator' as they will help me gain more specialized skills. [UNIVERSITY] also provides support for developing more innovative ideas and helps with research-oriented projects, which is something that would assist me. [UNIVERSITY] has industrial affiliations which will give me the opportunity to carry out research work with industries. The school's tie-up with many international universities too could provide me diverse opportunities and exposure as well. Moreover, the well-equipped lab facilities at [UNIVERSITY] can help me conduct Research and Development and Master's degree Projects. Of the many projects [UNIVERSITY] is involved in, I look forward to working on projects like [PROJECT_NAME], [PROJECT_NAME] and [PROJECT_NAME] in the future. I also look forward to being a part of the [TEAM_NAME] teams. As for my own project, I would like to develop an autonomous robot which can perform multiple tasks in an agriculture field along with an Autonomous Drone that can do the same.
My future goal is to be an R&D head in the field of ML/AI and Computer Vision in a company like [COMPANY]/[COMPANY] or [COMPANY]/[COMPANY]. Later on, I want to be a Team Lead in the R&D sector. I'm quite positive that the resources available at [UNIVERSITY] will encourage me to transform myself into an academically sound, professional and leading R&D Engineer, and I look forward to joining [UNIVERSITY].
