STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

[NAME] MS in Industrial Engineering University of New Haven Fall 2022

The humankind revolution is characterized by consecutive industrial revolutions, which has always helped shape the human future in a prolific way. As the Industrial Revolution 5.0 is emerging in unforeseeable ways, we increasingly rely upon technologies such as Internet of Things, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ultimate connecting thread between humans and machines is Industrial Revolution 5.0, also called as 'Society 5.0' that applies AI algorithms in product manufacturing and logistics. Being an engineer in the industry for over the past 4 years, manufacturing and logistical constraints always exacerbated the issues in industries. Considering the global chip supply shortage, many companies are planning to reduce their reliance on a few large factories, resulting in production opportunities around the world. Pursuing MS in Industrial Engineering is not borne out of childhood dreams but rather a result of constant acquisition of knowledge and experience over the years. MS in Industrial Engineering offered by [UNIVERSITY], would definitely lead me to bridge the gaps and build the effective solutions for such industry challenges.

As a child, I grew up watching 90's kids TV shows such as [TV_SHOW], [TV_SHOW] and [TV_SHOW] which has helped me develop a design approach and has implanted a seed of curiosity for engineering. These traits eventually led me to pursue Electronics and telecommunications engineering from [UNIVERSITY]. This is where my rudimentary understanding of semiconductors has gradually turned into admiration, then into a strong passion for industrial drives and automation. The subjects like Control Systems, Digital Image Processing using MATLAB, PLC and Automation helped me understand the industry standards and processes in a much more comprehensive manner. During my third year, I worked on a project to develop a "Public Garden automation system using PIC Microcontroller". Primarily the project addressed issues relating to the wastage of electricity by switching the lights on-off at the set time, and the opening and closing of an entrance gate of garden by using a motor. I performed the role of hardware engineer in the project and successfully implemented my knowledge of 'Component selection' and 'Product designing'.

My final year project "Transformer oil dehydration system with Auto control" which was sponsored by [COMPANY] aimed to create an automated system using PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), PPM Meter, polish filters, flow sensor and HMI (Human machine Interface) to remove the moisture content from transformer's oil and it's insulating paper so as to increase the life expectancy and efficiency of the industry transformers. Also published a research paper by studying the detailed causes and effects of moisture on insulation paper of transformer. The challenge was to create an effective feedback system for PLC for fine-tuning the successive value of the moisture content. Therefore, rigorous research was conducted to select appropriate PPM meter and polish filters in order to obtain desired output and thorough understanding of the subject under study.

Pursuing an MBA in Operations Management from [UNIVERSITY] was by far the wisest decision of my life. With Operations Management being a subset of Industrial Engineering, taught me project management methods, strategic management and overall resource management techniques, while MS in Industrial engineering will provide more in-depth knowledge on engineering design and prototyping, manufacturing processes and systems engineering. My final year project was "Analysis of Data warehouse performance with ETL technology". In that, I discussed the data warehouse deployment and maintenance issues with an industry expert whose guidance has exquisitely supported my findings around the ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) Process.

With such academic expertise and credibility under my belt, I entered the professional world with [COMPANY] which is a leading sketch-to-scale solutions company that designs and builds intelligent products. As a Junior Engineer, I was responsible for component package creation using Mentor Graphics VLM tool. Also reviewed component specifications and created schematic symbols and PCB footprints as per IPC Standards. To build the competencies in semiconductor domain I moved to [COMPANY], a renowned tech giant in semiconductor industry which manufactures machines that produces world's most complex chips and displays. Here my primary responsibility is to identify and propose alternate solutions such as electronic, electrical and mechanical components with detailed Where-Used Impact Analysis for the assemblies. Being a risk mitigation engineer, I assess the impact of new proposed components on next level assemblies using UG NX, OrCAD, Teamcenter 12.0 and associated BOM (Bill of materials) structures. Also, the job role gave insights on different technologies such as ALD (Atomic layer deposition), CVD (Chemical vapor deposition), CMP (chemical-mechanical planarization) and dielectric etching. The challenging task of this role is to have extreme cross-functional team collaboration with design engineers, materials and change management teams for project closures. For my exceptional performance, I have been awarded several times by my managers at the workplace. As a part of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) cell, participated in various events to help the [ORGANIZATION].

With this learning experience, I look ahead to be a part of [UNIVERSITY] to learn and contribute to ongoing university research studies. [PROFESSOR]'s research in "Data Mining & Statistical Modeling and Benchmarking", fascinates me to learn new data analysis tools and techniques so as to learn and contribute in his research. The coursework will take me through subjects like System Simulation, Model Based Design and Data Analytics which will improve my practical knowledge and skills.

With MS Degree, I intend to be a Part of [ORGANIZATION] in India has an objective to advise new start-ups on matters related to science, technology and innovation with a focus on application of science and technology in critical infrastructure, economic and social sectors.

With this mindset, I engraved a vision to use my aptitudes to create utilitarian technologies for human species to burgeon in today's rapidly transforming world.
