STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
As [PERSON_A]'s saying, "Life is not a problem to be solved. Just remember to have something that keeps you busy doing what you love while being surrounded by the people who love you" from his very infamous book named as "Ikigai" made me realize that it only matters if you love the work which you are doing in order to keep balance to your internal self. Hence, I have decided to pursue my dream of studying the management course fully equipped with the strategic planning, executing, mapping, technical aspects etc.
Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression. Right from my school, I had a strong inclination for Maths and Applied Sciences, which proved decisive in choosing a career in Engineering. Prior to my bachelor's degree, my educational background consists of 10 years of school education with English as a medium of instruction for Science and Mathematics. This has been the foundation of my education and served as a platform on which I developed a broad interest in Maths and Sciences, which has resulted in me taking up Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as major subjects in the 2 years of intermediate education. It is at this point of time where machines and manufacturing fascinated me a lot.
With good scores in the science subjects, I could choose the engineering stream to take up for Bachelors. Also, I chose Mechanical Engineering, because of its wide, interdisciplinary span and the ever-increasing use of machines in every branch of modern science, from Astrophysics to Medicine. There were very few girls who can take up Mechanical Engineering because of the physical efforts it requires while learning the course and even after the completion of the said course and I was one of the few. It's a field rich with opportunities for an entrepreneur as well. The four years of undergraduate education have been a great learning and enriching process for me.
Post completion of Bachelors I started working. My first job was into [COMPANY_A] where I learnt to interact with large number of people and dealt with customers from different background and industries. During this time, I realized and proposed that the delay in the delivery of machines is happening because of lack of proper communication with the salesperson and other teams and hence volunteered myself to conduct weekly meetings discussing the plan of the said projects and to clarify what the salesperson has committed to the clients and how we need to do this in the said timeline. This is where I displayed and also realized my skills of starting something which I believed in and working towards it.
Later on, I had an opportunity to work in a company, where I took the responsibilities of the entire Vacuum lifter category. In the beginning it used to stress me out, but later on I planned the sales activities, delivering and dispatching activities which made me enjoy my work to the fullest. My solid engineering knowledge helped me come up with quick solutions to technical issues. This stint proved to be a learning hotbed as I interacted with logistics and technical installation team to facilitate seamless execution of order of the machines. The experience I gained in the due time made my thinking process more significant about career selection in this field as it taught me skills like Planning, Execution of Projects, Customer Relationship Management and giving Technical Support up to certain extent to a customer. I was a part of technical support as well as the sales team which helped me enhance not only technical but also my communication skills. I discovered within me, a thirst for knowledge and quick learning, which resulted in achieving challenging tasks within deadlines.
Meanwhile, during my tenure as a Craft instructor I have led the class to participate in the Trade exhibition and in other cultural activities during college festivals.
Mere technical knowledge does not mean the whole of life. Apart from this there are several other facets of life. Hence, I had participated and organized an event in college festivals twice during my engineering studies. I was the judge for the event because of my good analytical and fair judgmental skills. I used to participate in sports at my college along with fun and technical events. Enjoying and loving what you do is of crucial importance, let it be events, study or work.
Today as I stand at the threshold of new pathways of learning, I have without hesitation chosen to pursue my Masters in the field of Supply Chain Management, the field that extracts the most out of me and draws the best of my abilities. During Bachelors, I learnt how a product is manufactured and about marketing and other various aspects of management. Hence, I found that my interest in the connected network of individuals, organizations, resources, activities, and technologies involved in the manufacture and sale of a product or service, so I want to devote my career into this field of management which I feel is the most suitable for my career and life goals and therefore, I am applying for MSc Supply Chain Management at your prestigious University.
