STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I have always been curious to know about how technology works using various software programming and coding. Though I am an electronics and communication graduate, I am fascinated to study programming as it encompasses various roles related to both computer and information systems. Being a software engineer, one can create new software to smoothen tasks and also troubleshoot various issues related to computer programs or applications. This triggered me to further enhance my knowledge in software applications and thus, I want to pursue MS in Software Engineering from the prestigious [UNIVERSITY_NAME].

Since schooling, I used to be the person who consistently topped the class even with minimal effort and actively participated in extracurricular activities (as I was a class head at that time). But after my 10th, I changed my school, and it's the first time I realized that I had lived in a small pond till date because here it was different—even though I put a lot of effort, I couldn't be at the top as everyone was as good and worked hard at studies. With time I started correcting my previous mistakes, and eventually, I came to the top tier. I have been intensively involved in learning maths throughout my education and had a particular interest in the subject. I am familiar with concepts such as multivariable calculus, elementary statistics, and probability theory. I have also studied data structures that were the beginning of my interest and crucial in forming my choices. After that, even with a good score in [EXAM_NAME], I preferred [UNIVERSITY_NAME] because of its exposure and alumni network. I got into the ECE stream there, which I'm pleased about because I used to love electronics back in those days.

In college, I worked for [DEPARTMENT_NAME] (our registration help department) and [ORGANIZATION_NAME] (logistics management for our fests), and we regularly used to manage 2k/4k runs. Later after my 3rd year, I worked on [PROJECT_NAME] (Laboratory Inventory Management System). I needed to learn different technologies in a short span; I knew MERN stack and new languages such as JS and Java quickly. Although it felt hectic, it gave me confidence that I could work under pressure. This is by far the most challenging project I faced, and I'm proud of completing it in the given time.

I have interned at two firms specializing in data analytics to help research companies start new projects. The very first industrial experience I had was back in 2019 in the [COMPANY_NAME]. There I designed a model to use between each other; for this, I efficiently had to do a lot of research as I needed to go to every sector of the plant and meet different people and ask for the preferred mode of communication and its difficulties. However, it was great to begin there as it improved my communication skills drastically. When I joined the company, they assigned me to an ongoing project as one of their members had left the organization. So it was kind of tough to complete what others started in a significantly less period. Still, instead of panicking, I took that responsibility. The best part was I redid the whole project and upgraded to a better version all by myself. This gave me massive recognition in the organization as even the head sent an appreciation mail regarding this. My project made extensive use of Python and C++, and web development tools, because of which I have learned a lot about these programming languages during my internship. I wish to use my knowledge and skills in data science to provide well-sustained research and analysis for companies.

My main interest in Software Engineering started in 2017. It was my first year in college, with exponential dependency on technology. It is necessary to have a basic understanding of CS topics. I planned my career so that I want to enhance my knowledge initially by working in different verticals and learning various computer languages like Python, JavaScript, PHP, etc. After learning these, I want to improve my skills by focusing on Software Development. I feel it's a great time to boost my career with MS Software Engineering as I finished my undergraduate degree last year and have hands-on work experience, and I think it's the right time to enhance my knowledge. For the short term, I want to be in a growing start-up; by this, you will have a lot to work on and improve skills drastically when compared to any MNC. After that, for the long term, I'm planning to be an entrepreneur; by this, I would have experience of how the market plays and what to do.

I want to excel my skills in the course, and since gaining practical knowledge is equally essential, I would like to have more practical exposure to it. I wish to use the knowledge I have gathered in this field for self-betterment. I believe the combination of my effort and willingness to keep learning will always help me. This subject has thus stolen my attention, and I want to work over it unsolicitedly. I feel that I will be a perfect fit for the course offered by [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. I strongly believe in myself and my potential in achieving the plans I have made. With my complete confidence, I can assure you that you will not be let down. Performing well and learning more about the subject, and gathering practical exposure is my most important goal. I promise you that the University will recognize me as an asset of their own.
