Statement of Purpose

"In a properly automated and educated world, then, machines may prove to be the true humanizing influence. It may be that machines will do the work that makes life possible and that human beings will do all the other things that make life pleasant and worthwhile." - Isaac Asimov

The number of machines that environs us and our sheer dependence on them for the most important tasks gives an impression that the quoted words might be probable. My inquisitiveness about machines started at a very young age. I have strived to expand my knowledge about them throughout my academic life, even by going beyond the curriculum. I have extensively explored the principles of various mechanisms used in machines and modified them to get better results. My endeavour to expand my knowledge about this field will only be successful if I take up the Master's program in Mechanical Engineering from some reputable educational university.

I hail from a family with an agricultural background. I have been exposed to various machines like tractors and seed sowers, which initiated a proclivity for machines. I chose Mechanical Engineering as my undergraduate program.

I always intended to get the most of my academic courses and hence put the best of my efforts into learning more and scoring well. I completed my tenth grade at [SCHOOL_NAME], scoring a G.P.A. of 10. I qualified my intermediates from [COLLEGE_NAME] with 95.1% in aggregate. Completing my intermediate level, I got admission in a Bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering in [UNIVERSITY_NAME] in [CITY]. I completed this course with a CGPA of 7.75. The coursework and the various subjects have given me an all-encompassing comprehension of the field and an interest in expanding my horizons.

I have been a part of some projects throughout my undergraduate program as well. The project titled "E.V.C. (ELECTRIC VEHICLE)" involved fabricating a Formula Student Electric car for participation in an event organized by [ORGANIZATION_NAME]. I was responsible for the design and simulation. In another project titled "H.V.C. (HYBRID VEHICLE)," which involved fabrication of a hybrid car for participation in an event organized by [ORGANIZATION_NAME], I was given the responsibility of the suspension of the car. Lotus Shark and MSC Adams software were the primary software used in this project. I also took part in a project titled "PHOTOTRON," which required me to assemble and mount an autonomous bot that works on image processing. The technology used in this project includes the likes of Raspberry Pi and Stepper Motors. I also assisted in a project titled "Design and simulation of cooling system for single-point cutting tool using Peltier effect." The project involved the simulation of a nonconventional cooling system based on the Peltier effect and used the SolidWorks and Thermal-Electric module technologies in Ansys. I have published a journal titled "Non-traditional cooling technique using Peltier effect for single point tungsten carbide (TiC) cutting tool doping with boron carbide (B4C)" at [JOURNAL_NAME] for publication. My roles in these projects had allowed me to better comprehend the real-world application of the concepts I had grasped in class. Working in a team also made me a dependable team player and leader, which would assist me in my future endeavours.

I have also made an effort to gain proficiency in Ansys, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and Lotus Shark. The knowledge in these fields has enabled me to explore topics beyond my curriculum and increase my overall understanding of my discipline. I have also taken an in-plant training on Fabrication of Vehicle and Vehicle Dynamics organized by [ORGANIZATION_NAME] in 2018.

I have made efforts throughout my academic career to participate in extracurricular activities. I am an active N.S.S. volunteer. I have achieved Blood Donation certification from the Indian Red Cross Society in [CITY]. I am also an active member of the S.A.E. collegiate club and an organizer of the Robotics Club. During my undergraduate program, I took part in several SAE-INDIA BAJA competitions and led a team, and finished as runners-up in that competition. These activities helped me polish my leadership and organizing skills. It also taught me to use resources most efficiently.

Having acquired the requisite skills as a student of this discipline, I believe it would be an apt time to proceed further with my studies. Committing to a formal Master's program in Mechanical Engineering would give me a wider scope for expanding my knowledge. The United States welcomes a host of brilliant students from around the globe annually, and studying amongst them, under the guidance of the experienced and effective faculty members of [UNIVERSITY_NAME], would, beyond any doubt, elevate my skill set and knowledge. Interacting with some of the best minds would help me perceive situations differently, both in my personal and professional life. Studying here would help me carve a niche for myself in this sphere and contribute actively to the success of the organization I would work for in the future.
