STATEMENT OF PURPOSE MS in Management Information Systems, Fall 2022

Every technology that we use today should be viable to the business in these modern times. The most prosperous businesses today are those which have succeeded in seamlessly merging information technology. During childhood, accompanying my mother working at a post office was the first time where I had the opportunity to get my hands on a computer. Ever since then I have been interested about the latest trends and innovations and desired to pursue a career in the IT industry. Today it makes me proud that I have achieved it. But my aspirations go a long way and I'm determined to pursue Master's degree in Management Information System from an international reputed university like yours that would make me adept with knowledge and give me a global perspective to make it big in the field of IT.

I have consistently performed very well throughout my schooling, exploring and asking questions, seeking answers, venturing into the unknown is something that I have been passionate about. My undergraduate study in Telecommunication Engineering at [UNIVERSITY_NAME], prepared the strong grounding in courses of Database Management Systems, Operating Systems Software Engineering and Object Oriented Programming. I enjoyed the practical sessions, more than the theoretical one. My enthusiasm got me to learn languages like HTML, SQL, Java, and Python and showcase my skill through practical experience. I believe that academics is a combination of hard work, dedication and creative thinking. Keeping these parameters in my mind I would say that I am academically strong and inclined. Initially, I focused on knowing the basics of computing skills then I was slowly drawn to some advanced subjects in computer science like Cloud Computing, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, and Big Data. My introduction to management theories came through a course work "Management and Entrepreneurship" during the V semester. Wherein I learnt the importance of information management in an organization for its well-being and smooth functioning.

As part of the curriculum, I undertook a project titled "Smart Vineyard using ML". It was a Python, Convoluted Neural Networks, Image Processing and Machine Learning based application to improve the process of viticulture. I learnt the knack of planning, gathering information and requirements from the clients (Stakeholders). The project demanded me to stay focused towards flawless designing. It was here that I realized my forte in the design, presentation, strategic decision-making and communication with the external parties along with the development.

After my under graduation, I started learning new skills online like Database management using SQL and Data visualization tools like Tableau/PowerBI while improving the skills I had. I did two mini projects which were based on Data Analytics. "Data Analysis of Sales Insights" to improve my technical skills after graduation. The project was to improve the sales of a company using their sales data, my analytical and technical skills such as Python and SQL and the visualization skills using Tableau and PowerBI. "Data Scientist job posts on Glassdoor" to bridge the gap between job seekers and potential jobs. The same skills mentioned above were used for this project.

After my Bachelor's, I ventured into the corporate world in a reputed MNC [COMPANY_NAME] as a Trainee Associate Software Engineer. During the first project of my professional experience as a Trainee Associate Software Engineer, I had the opportunity to implement my object oriented programming skills, Data analytics skills like data mining, data cleaning, SQL, visualization tools as PowerBI, and APIs. During the second project of my professional experience, I had the opportunity to work on Software automation and obtain practical knowledge on Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment, and agile environment. I got the ability to think strategically about technology to come up with a workaround solution for blockers. I take timely updates from the respective teams, and communicate with the client if there is an issue or additional requirement for the service delivery. My overall professional work experience helped me developing a skill to see a clear vision of the big picture as well as the small details. I utilized skills development opportunities provided by [COMPANY_NAME]'s Talent Next platform to learn AWS Security and Fundamentals. My tenure at [COMPANY_NAME] has helped me learn many soft skills like business etiquettes, leadership and has improved my cognizance in time management, decision making ability and various corporate aspects.

As a long term goal, I aspire to establish myself as a Business/Business Intelligence Analyst for upcoming businesses and help them flourish. My technical background as a Telecommunication engineer and my experience in [COMPANY_NAME] have laid a strong foundation to achieve this dream. It is with this exposure, I want to embark on my journey in Masters in Management Information Systems. I am especially keen to learn courses on Advanced Topics in Big Data Analytics – Machine Learning, Advanced Topics in Cybersecurity – Security Analytics, Systems Design and Agile Management. The highly competitive atmosphere coupled with the opportunities for professional development, community service projects, networking activities through MSMIS Association makes it an ideal choice for my graduate studies.

In retrospect, I see my academic pursuit so far being motivated by the single objective of a career in Information Technology. I am prepared to dedicate myself with the resilience required for this challenging field of study. This is why I look forward to study at your University to turn my objective and passion into concrete abilities.
