STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Since my childhood, I have seen how technology makes our lives easier and its immense impact. At my tuition classes, my teacher's brother used to have a computer. It was fascinating how this machine could do anything we asked it to, including games, work, and searching for answers on Google. In a way, it was magical. Several years later, on account of my interest in computers, my mother bought me a computer which greatly facilitated my learning. Within a few weeks, I became proficient at using it. My father had to migrate to Thailand, so we could not communicate with him in those days since he lived miles away. With the help of the computer, I was able to talk and see him simultaneously using an application called [APPLICATION_NAME]. This showed me how technology and the internet had brought people closer together. At that time, I decided this was what I wanted to pursue professionally.

Formerly, my father worked as an Assistant General Manager for [COMPANY_NAME]. Now, he is self-employed and runs a restaurant. My mother owns a salon and is self-employed. My father has a very disciplined nature, and my mother has managed to handle the family in difficult times. When my father was diagnosed with cancer, it was an unfortunate time for the whole family, but my mother took care of everything for an entire year so he could get well. Fortunately, my father has since been cured. Her ability to handle things alone in difficult times has been an inspiration to me. No matter how life-threatening his cancer was, my father did not let my studies suffer. They've both been a source of inspiration for me throughout my life.

Through the years, I have gained experience by attending computer institutes where I learned programming; even though it was tough at first, my passion never lost hope. As a student in the computer classes at school, I learned how to use various software programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, CSS, and Windows Movie Maker, which I practiced every night as a hobby. Upon finishing my 12th grade, I decided to pursue a bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. This allowed me to learn more about the field as well as discover new technologies and domains.

With the help of the college curriculum and online courses, I created several websites on my own. This was during the time when multiple new applications started appearing in the country, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Gmail, ShareIt, etc., which made lives easier for people. In university, I had to produce multiple projects using programming languages to present to my professors. During my major project, my teammate and I spent a lot of time researching and learning the required tools and languages to convert our ideas into reality.

Some of the projects we've made include a Bank Management System, pet adoption site, traffic management system, etc. Furthermore, I published a paper on "Traffic Congestion using Image Processing" in the [JOURNAL_NAME], which required a lot of research and learning. We received a 90 in the major project due to our outstanding presentation. We also developed several essential skills during all of this hard work such as presentation skills, communication skills, and teamwork.

I have been working at [COMPANY_NAME] as a Programmer Analyst Trainee for over a year, where I gained knowledge in Core Java, SQL, Web Design, and automated development tools such as SVN. The project we created on Guidewire gave me a hands-on look at how the work is done at the company. Testing and management of the user interface were two of the many responsibilities I was assigned to complete within the project.

Given my chosen area of interest, I have decided to take an academic leap in my career and bridge the gap between my existing knowledge and the proposed one. To meet this objective, I have finalized to pursue a Master of Science in Information Technology from [UNIVERSITY_NAME].

I have carefully scrutinized the program I am applying to maximize my career prospects. I found most of the program modules relevant to my career advancement, including Data Structures and Algorithms, Blockchain Development, Cloud Management, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

In recent years, Canada has become a popular destination for higher education. In a developed nation such as Canada, studying for an MSc provides a wealth of opportunities. The country is also known for its multiculturalism, easy immigration regulations, and high-paying jobs. Various global rankings such as Academic Rankings of World Universities, QS Research, and others consistently recognize Canadian universities among the best globally. Additionally, a friend of mine who is a recent graduate from a Canadian university cited reasons such as affordability, quality education, and value for money, which further influenced my choice of Canada.

Upon graduation, I intend to join the rapidly growing market of professionals with expertise in novel CS concepts globally. I am looking forward to working for companies such as [COMPANY_NAME], [COMPANY_NAME], and [COMPANY_NAME]. Technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science are becoming increasingly prevalent in the worlds of business and technology, so my degree will give me career paths and allow me to develop my own. Furthermore, I may be able to apply my skill sets in new, innovative areas and perhaps even become an entrepreneur. As a result, I intend to develop a team to create an app that is efficient and performs well. In this way, I would be able to contribute to the world positively.

An MSc would help me in enhancing my knowledge and skills significantly. Through the college's infrastructure and resources, I would be able to learn and apply my knowledge more effectively. My curiosity, creativity, and perseverance for excellence will contribute to my success in my career. I, therefore, hope my candidacy will be accepted and look forward to being a part of the Fall 2022 class.
