STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Selecting information technology as major during my higher secondary education inspired me to pursue something that would help me innovate, create and expose me to latest technology. Real business value comes out of perfection in planning, management, and technical capabilities. The standards become even higher for the program, Master of Science in Information Systems, as what started years ago with manual systems like customer databases and catalogues has evolved into modern concepts such as predictive data mining. Rapid developments in the field of information management have left me fascinated with Management Information System (MIS). I have worked in [COMPANY_NAME] as Senior System Engineer for over two years on business process management platforms, where we optimize and automate processes, which reduces tremendous human efforts as well as delivers applications in a short duration. Intrigued by this great significance of technology across industries, and the latest advancements in the field of business agility and data mining, I felt the need to raise the bar for my skillset too and the need to take a step ahead towards perfection by applying for the course of Master of Science in Information Systems at [UNIVERSITY_NAME].

My first year of engineering was irresolute, mainly because it consisted of subjects that were new to me and belonged to different domains. However, I was able to understand the subjects and clear them exceptionally well with an overall CGPI score of 7.86/10. Our first mini project when IOT (Internet of things) was introduced, was the working model of self-balancing robot, developed using Arduino, Python programming and web camera. I also participated in the National Level Project Showcase for presenting my project paper along with a prototype model on 'Event Management System of College', which is a real time Android application used for participating in cultural/technical events. This app advertises the events organized by the college cultural/technical committee with required information displayed on the platform. I was responsible for backend development and business model of our product, where the Android application was integrated with the back-end website, which handles the database entered in the application. JAVA, Microsoft SQL server, ASP.NET and Android studio was mainly used in our final project. Apart from this, I am Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 6 Programmer issued by Oracle during my third year of engineering.

After my undergraduate degree, I joined [COMPANY_NAME] as System Engineer in 2019 and was trained as a full stack Microsoft developer (in .Net, C#, SQL server, Angular). Later, I was aligned to the Financial Service domain, where I cross-skilled myself in Appian (leading BPM Tool) and got certified with Appian Application Designer Credential (L1 Credential), and Appian Application Analyst Credential (L2 Credential). I also gained exposure to Agile framework that is widely followed in MNCs in our project. My role in the project is to develop interactive user interfaces and perform CRUD operations in Oracle database to develop case management system for a leading financial services company based in [CITY].

Apart from academics, I actively participated in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. I was part of various departmental and college student bodies. Right from the first year of engineering, I was an integral part of the cultural forum of my college. I was in the Student's Council and Publicity Head of Computer Society of India for 3 consecutive years and successfully organized numerous technical fests. I was also selected as 'Best Speaker' for demonstration of public speaking skills and great networking skills in the intra college debate competition '[EVENT_NAME]' where I was runner-up too. My hobbies also include food photography and food blogging and I like capturing the essence of food in a picture. I have gained 8000+ followers on [SOCIAL_MEDIA_PLATFORM], as an active food critic on [PLATFORM_NAME], and have more than 9.2L views on [PLATFORM_NAME] contributions.

Having studied information technology for four years, I have come across various subjects that comprised the latest technology. Over these years, I was able to realize the extent of my fondness for the subjects related to business process management (BPM) and database in information systems domain. While working on BPM tool and database, I understood the need to learn more about improved business agility, workflow automation in depth and deploy the knowledge in industry. I have always been inquisitive about the new emerging technologies as well as trends in the field of technology and business, and therefore, I always tried to be updated about the same. This is when I became aware that Information Systems is my forte and pursuing Master of Science in Information Systems is the obvious step ahead.

After completing the course, back in India I will get into the financial or IT sector as a Business Analytics or Backend Developer since I will be equipped with knowledge in management as well technical fields. I will continue to work on Appian and Pega (which has high weightage in industry) with interest in my selected domain. My long-term goal would be to serve the IT or financial sector as a Senior Analyst responsible for a team of professionals, planning and executing a business process redesign (BPR) and to meet a company's organizational needs.

I sincerely feel that Information Systems should be handled by people with intent to deliver excellence and possess an urge to learn and perform in fields of design, development as well as the management of these two. Also, the desire to achieve something or perform flawlessly is what takes an individual to considerable heights. Technical proficiency adds further value to this. Since I aspire to make a mark in the industry, I am confident this course will help me leverage such qualities, back them up with a technical efficiency and instill confidence to face future challenges from disparate clients. I hope that the admission committee finds my profile exciting enough to grant me admission and financial aid, starting next Fall.
