Data and Information systems have played a crucial role in the advancement of technology. Every new research has impacts in every field. Since my childhood, I have been curious about computer systems and their ability to crunch numbers. When I started college, I discovered how data science has applications from effective healthcare to music recommendations. This ability to crunch numbers could create huge impacts that ripple through every aspect of humankind when combined with the relevant data and algorithms. This discovery left me amazed with the potential of learning data science, how one can solve nearly any real-world problem with data. This realization propelled me to learn more about data science and inspired me to pursue a Master's Degree. I have chosen a Master's Degree in data science to enhance my knowledge, develop research aptitude, and harness it to solve more significant problems.

College Life

I have completed my Bachelor's of Computer Science from [UNIVERSITY] in 2018. Those were very enlightening four years. Throughout the course, I got to work on numerous projects and skills. It also provided me with many challenging and exciting opportunities to push myself further and achieve more. In the first semester of college, I took part in an app development hackathon with a team of 4. We developed an app for kids to make the learning process easier and bagged the second prize. In the summer of 2016, I registered for industrial training with the [TRAINING_CENTER]. I worked on a core java project and understood software development in a professional setting. University's coursework was enriching and kept me curious throughout. I ardently enjoyed studying the Theory of computation, Data Structures and Algorithms, Image and vision computing, and Operations Research.

During the summer vacation of 2017, I interned at [COMPANY], where I worked on a Business Intelligence Platform. This internship was my touch-base to data systems in the real world. It made me feel like a two-year-old who is just curious about everything around them. I helped in every stage of the platform, from data gathering to preparing it for forecasts, from designing data pipelines to interesting visualizations. It was an experience of a lifetime. After my internship, my fondness for data systems and their implications grew exponentially.

In the final semester, I worked on an Accident avoidance system project, which aimed to design a vision-based device that would alert the driver based on the road signs. My contribution to the project was developing a machine learning pipeline and deploying it. I received high grades for my efforts. In the final year, [COMPANY] offered me a job as a software engineer.

Professional Experience

At [COMPANY], I got assigned to a cash balancing project. I developed an end-to-end data system for balancing finances. This project envisioned gathering all the historical data in different forms and converting it to useful information. This project helped the business to derive data-based conclusions about logistics, payroll, raw material purchase, and order fulfillment. The solution included building data transformation pipelines and generating dashboards for visualizations. My responsibility was to develop an effective platform that converted reports into CSV files, for which I used image processing.

Going on, I participated in a roadshow to curate an innovative solution for our client. I designed and crystalized an end-to-end intelligent supply chain management software for the client's vending machines. It helped the organization save about two hundred thousand dollars by having predictable dates for shipping out products. I was awarded the best innovator award for my solution. After that, I transferred to the innovation center, where I worked on many challenging yet fun projects ranging from financial analysis to Natural language processing.

Subsequently, working for two years and five months at [COMPANY], I took a job at [COMPANY] as an analytics and cognitive consultant. My responsibilities are to design, develop and fine-tune the machine learning models to forecast clients' cash holdings and foreign exchange hedgings accurately.

Future Goals

I am becoming more and more inquisitive as I dive deeper into data science. It inspires me to do higher studies and explore the most novel domains of data science. Presently, I look forward to building a research capacity and career in data science. That will fuel my curiosity, keep me on the verge of new advancements, be intellectually challenging, rewarding, and provide me with several opportunities. I believe that I am passionate, capable, motivated, and prepared to set out on a thrilling, arduous, and uplifting path. I wish to make a compelling, real contribution in this field by working on current bleeding-edge research projects and helping humanity leap forward in advancing technology. I want to collaborate and solve problems like climate change, energy crisis, waste management, healthcare, and food crisis with the help of precise forecasts, optimized resource utilization, and better visibility of upcoming challenges.
