STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My motivation to pursue a Master's in Data Science is to explore the infinite possibilities that the vast and exciting world of computer science has to offer. An MS in Data Science would be a stepping stone to hone my existing technical skills and lay a strong foundation for my future career in a field I am passionate about. Post the master's, I wish to take up the role of a Data Engineer and Data Scientist at a leading conglomerate such as [COMPANY_1] or [COMPANY_2] and implement computer systems to meet the information technology goal of my organization. In the long term, my vision is to rise the hierarchy and take up decision-making roles in the same organization. My interest in computers and information technology started when I was ten. I was fascinated by how this small box could contain such a large number of components. Playing video games piqued my interest in how these applications were created. I can say that my childhood interaction with computers, as well as growing up in a technologically knowledgeable environment, inspired me to embark on my path to a technology-based career. My particular interest in mathematics, along with a strong connection with programming with computers, has provided me with an opportunity to steer my career towards Computer Science. The school environment pulled me out of my comfort zone and made me excel in extracurricular activities rather than just academics.

As a mainstream, I took a Bachelor of Technology in Information and Communication Technology with a concentration in Computer Science. This has assisted me in becoming more acquainted with the practical aspects of engineering. Throughout my studies, I was exposed to a wide range of subjects, including Programming in C, Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, Database Management Systems, Data Communication and Networks, Software Engineering, Java Programming, Python Programming with Web Frameworks, Cryptography and Network Security, Digital System Design and Mathematics for Cybersecurity, to name a few. These courses not only taught me the fundamentals of computer science but also gave me the ability to think critically about solving real-time problems. I thoroughly enjoyed my coursework, acknowledged the difficulties, and approached the issues with unique zeal and enthusiasm.

I believe that being successful implies having a balanced set of success stories in academic and extracurricular activities. Since elementary school, I have participated in various non-technical competitions and organized numerous technical events, which have helped me develop organizational skills at a very young age. With the knowledge I acquired in Data Science to complete an internship in Data Analysis and Visualization of Crop Production in India, where I analyzed the data by cleaning and preprocessing it using Python's inbuilt libraries and inferred valuable insights from it. During my internship, I also worked on a project called Bank Loan Prediction with Python, where I developed a model that could predict whether users would be willing to take out a loan. With my enthusiasm for technology, I worked on personal projects such as Movie Recommender Systems and Flight Price Prediction.
