Statement of Purpose

# MS Data Science

Technology has leveraged itself to a whole different horizon in today's world. The industry is buzzing with AI and ML paving the way for analysing vast volumes of data. Data Science will aid these technologies in the future by resolving possible issues. Being inclined towards technology and its diverse intricacies is the reason I chose this field. I believe problem-solving is an art, and not everyone can master it. Hence, to gain proficiency in this arena, I opted to pursue an MS in Data Science from your prestigious university.

I believe a master's degree, specifically in Data Science, stems from my insatiable drive to study the implications of mathematics in the domains of decision making, analytics, and prediction. My college coursework included Data Mining and Data Analytics, which piqued my interest in this field. This program would allow me to be the pivot by developing applications that can serve as solutions for various enterprise-level business analytics procedures. Master's Program would provide me with the opportunity to work out of my comfort zone and challenge me with fresh approaches, ultimately shaping a promising future ahead of me. This way, I could also follow my desire to see new places, learn about different cultures, and, most importantly, engage with people and diversify my social circle.

Having performed among the top 0.1% of students during matriculation, I demonstrated academic excellence from an early age. I secured admission to one of the most coveted [UNIVERSITY_NAME], India, for the program of Information Technology. My undergraduate academic program has laid a foundation to pursue a graduate school program and a career in Data Science and ML domain. The curriculum helped me grasp core data structure and object-oriented programming with JAVA.

As part of my undergraduate tenure, projects provided me with a suitable platform to explore the various nuances of the concepts taught in class. I worked on Malaria Diagnosis using Machine Learning; this project dealt with Diagnosing blood cells for Malarial Parasite. I used Python's Libraries: Open CV, NumPy, and Random Forest Classifier. I created a Social Blog to read posts in the blog. The technologies used were Flask, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. Another project was [PROJECT_NAME], an Android Application serving the need for blood in Emergency, and it was created using technologies like JAVA, XML, and Google Firebase. One of the exciting projects that I worked on was Speech-to-Text Translator, as it converts Human-voice to text to serve people's needs without hands. The technology used in this was Python.

In the third year, to gain industry exposure and new perspectives, I landed a one-month internship on 'Development of Android Applications' at [ORGANIZATION_NAME], [CITY], [STATE]. This boosted my confidence to develop more applications, and with collaboration with one of my friends and my junior, we developed several Android Applications. Our main focus was to solve problems that we faced in our day-to-day lives. I also wrote a research paper on 'Language Identification using ML Kit' as Term-Paper. Since it was novel, I had reference to only official documentation published by [COMPANY_NAME]. This paper was published in the [JOURNAL_NAME].

In my fourth year, I got appointed as [ORGANIZATION_NAME] Lead, a student developer community of [COMPANY_NAME]. During my tenure, I, with my fellow developers and student fraternity, developed and implemented another Android Application, '[APPLICATION_NAME]', for eradicating hunger in our town. We received recognition for this project in [EVENT_NAME], a national-level online fest, in June 2020. I began working on the project 'Counterfeit Regulation through Machine Learning and deployment in Docker.' This project primarily evaluates the legitimacy of a Bank Currency Note based on a few Currency Note Image Properties and classifies it as a legit or fake one. Technologies deployed for development were Python, Random Forest Classifier, Data Science Libraries, Flassger for UI development, and Docker deployment. Deployment was essentially done in Docker to bring the strength of Docker Containers for Environment Standardization. I have also published a research paper titled 'Counterfeit Regulation using Machine Learning and deployment in Docker' in [PUBLISHER_NAME].

Following the completion of my Masters, I aspire to work in a reputable business where I will have ample opportunities to continuously improve myself and compete with most developers building solutions for Data Analytics, models utilising Machine Learning. This necessitates a high level of expertise, which an MS Degree will provide. I hope to be a significant player in the Data Science and Machine Learning domains in the future. I want my work and publications to make a substantial contribution to Data Science, Machine Learning, and the community that surrounds it.

With my zeal towards this program, I would be able to perform better and learn under guidance. Further, I would contribute actively to the myriad of events.
