STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

*An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.* — Benjamin Franklin

Education requires costly resources like time and money that are often difficult to find. But those who do invest in these resources, often end up richer not just because they often improve their financial situation, but also because their minds are richer. I immensely admire Benjamin Franklin for his great contributions, and this interesting quote motivated me to enhance my education to a higher level. After understanding this quote, my intention to learn new things has gradually evolved.

Since my childhood, I have been keen on my education. I was always interactive with the teachers throughout high school. I was really particular about doing well in my Bachelor's program, where I nurtured my skills and gave my best, to academics as well as extracurricular activities. I desired to pursue my Master's in Construction Management with the same enthusiasm and curiosity. From the past four years, I can recall a plethora of subjects that I have learned, and the challenges that have put me here with enhanced technical skills. The journey of my undergraduate education will always be a memorable one. Now, I will share a few glimpses of it here.

In 2018, I cleared the entrance test and secured a seat in [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. I was really impressed by the outstanding infrastructure of the college and hostel. I was drawn to civil engineering after seeing the infrastructure and ancient buildings of the most popular cities and countries like [CITY_NAME], [CITY_NAME], etc. I took my first step by selecting civil engineering for my undergrad studies. I spent a lot of my time in the library to gain technical knowledge in areas of my interest. The knowledge that I have acquired in the library had to be tested in the application aspect as well. So, I attempted many quizzes on the internet to assess myself and become aware of my drawbacks in particular concepts. I also participated in the quiz competition at [UNIVERSITY_NAME], which was related to civil engineering topics such as concrete technology, soil mechanics, and estimation & costing. Those quizzes concentrated on technical skills in that specified area where I could perform quite well.

Furthermore, I wanted to focus on improving my soft skills as well. So, I took a course in [PLATFORM_NAME], which consisted of valuable sessions with highly qualified professors. I successfully completed my course in soft skills scoring 65% in a challenging qualification test.

Next, I had to put my classroom learning to test, which was achieved by the internships. I interned at [UNIVERSITY_NAME] for two months on the development of building plan using local norms. Later, I learned Auto CAD software through online classes. I was also trained at a construction site by the site engineer on G+5 residential buildings. These internships taught me how to apply my knowledge as an employee. Further, I intended to learn new practical aspects from an industrial experience.

In the third year of under graduation, I submitted a prototype of drainage overflow sensor, which was related to the subject called Engineering Design Thinking (EDT). We used coding and Arduino water level sensor for this project. In the next semester, we had an advanced level of this subject called Project Realization. In this subject, I built a house using bamboo sticks. Next, we did a mini project titled "E-waste generated in [UNIVERSITY_NAME]." We used the collected waste to make concrete bricks, which was a good attempt at recycling waste.

Coming to my final year, the work became more challenging. I teamed with two students from my class and started a major project titled "Identification and differentiation between the biomethane potential and actual biogas yield from house hold waste." Our main objective was to characterize the fresh and digested septage. We had to deal with many parameters such as pH, EC, COD, BOD, etc. We used all our technical and practical knowledge to give our best toward fulfilling the project objectives.

All the knowledge that I have gained so far is just a drop in the ocean. There is a lot more to learn in this exponentially developing world. The concepts I have mastered such as theory and software could be put to further use. The graduate studies would give me more exposure and a greater understanding of these topics. For this reason, I have opted for a Master's degree in Construction Management. I am convinced that the United States of America will provide me with a vast range of offerings and greater flexibility. The course will enable me obtain valuable insights of infrastructure in planning, design, construction and much more. I aim to establish a career in research after completing this degree and study under the guidance of the highly qualified faculty at [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. Equipped with the advanced knowledge and skills, I aspire to become a construction manager. I am confident of making my humble contribution toward upholding the reputation of your esteemed university in the years to come.

My utmost thanks to everyone who has taken part in this admission process and spared their valuable time to review my application.
