Statement of Purpose

I grew up looking at my father who runs a construction firm from 20 years. This gave me exposure to civil engineering at a very young age. I got fascinated by the technological marvel in Construction Industry when I visited the project sites with my father and I immediately got hooked on it. One thing I realised in the later years was the economics and mathematics of money played an important role in every construction project.

Throughout my Engineering curriculum, my grades always showed an upward trend. Understanding teamwork and effective problem-solving skills have always been a part of my strengths which immediately lured me into the subject of Construction Management. Having developed an interest in it, I chose my electives to be Total Quality Management and Management Information System. In the past few years, I attended various architect and engineer meets, workshops arranged by different institutes to get detailed insights on subjects like Advance Concrete Technology, Project and Construction Management which helped me get in the top 5 percentile of the class.

Being a curious and innovative mind, I worked at [COMPANY_NAME] as an intern, where I learned about managing the resources, keeping track of time, marketing, developing client relations, and got my hands-on software development. Importantly learning the water treatment plant design gave me a deeper insight into the subject which increased my interest in construction and management. The one thing that I learned was how we can maximize profit in any construction project by taking the help of AI.

Giving back to the community being taught during my upbringing made me work as an Assistant Teacher in a local NGO that conducts their classes in the slums and being on the board of directors of [ORGANIZATION_NAME] allowed me to arrange various charity events. During the pandemic, I along with my sister formed a company "[COMPANY_NAME]" an initiative for women empowerment with a license of import and export. And helped a few female local farmers to export their yield during the times of pandemic where they have faced losses because of the gap that was created between demand and supply due to the time restrictions.

In my school, I was academically brilliant and I have been the sports Captain. I have also been the captain of the badminton team and won various awards during my school days and have represented the district at state-level tournaments thrice. I have been an all-rounder as I have not only maintained my class position as a topper but also bagged more than 50 certificates varying from participation to merit and prizes for National and International competitions like spelling bee, Dance, Debate, Mathematics, Science, and the English Olympiads. I also have worked for '[ORGANIZATION_NAME]' for a year.

From being a professional emcee and hosting around 45 events all over the state, I continued hosting events for the college since my first year. Starting from a mere volunteer in various student chapters, I became a board member of [ORGANIZATION_NAME] and [ORGANIZATION_NAME] and Joint General Secretary of Media and Marketing Department in my third year of a degree course. I have intensively worked and participated in domains like sports, cultural, technical, marketing and have understood their dynamics. Owing to the inner artist, I usually spend my free time learning new forms of art. Classical singing is just the recent one. In the lockdown, I got into the hobby of reading books and achieved my target of 12 books a year genre ranging from self-help to Mythology. One of my favorite statements from the book [BOOK_TITLE] is 'You can give only what you have - literally and energetically' which made me understand how important it is to maintain the positive energy.

Emotional health was affected the most during the outbreak of the pandemic and the isolation of covid patients made it worse. I conducted virtual yoga under expert guidance and discussion sessions for the isolated patients that brought them together where they could talk to each other and share their journey and let go of the stress and fear and move towards a quick recovery.

A few years back my home town [CITY_NAME] was listed in the Smart City Mission initiated by the government of India when I could see what difference the construction and infrastructure bring to society. The people in the city could witness economic growth that was stagnant for the past 10 years which led to an improved and healthy lifestyle. These projects have inspired me to pursue Construction Management. After some work experience in the USA, I aim to expand my family business and develop infrastructure in my country by applying latest innovation techniques.

The knowledge and experience assimilated over the years have built a strong educational background. Gaining an international exposure in a country like the United States is another important aspect that would facilitate my career growth. The USA having the world's high quality education and excellent support system for international students will provide me an opportunity to expose to global technological and operating concepts with a safe environment to learn and grow. As USA has the maximum number of entrepreneurs, it would create room for me to get right resources, network and ideas. I believe the challenges of working in a global economy will lay the foundation for the prosperous future.

I believe an MS degree at this juncture will enhance my financial and problem-solving capabilities. It would surely provide the best in terms of experienced faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities in an academically stimulating environment. My sincerity, determination, and intense desire to succeed will act as strong allies in achieving the necessary growth and recognition internationally.
