Statement of Purpose

Curiosity is the key to success, which I have learned since the very beginning of real life. I say real life because that's what I started living when I entered the fast-paced world where everybody is chasing their dream. But I wasn't quite sure of it initially, and I carried with the flow at my own pace. In the race of life, one quality I'm most grateful to have inculcated in myself is curiosity and the readiness to learn things. That is how I ended up becoming a Software Engineer today. Although I pursued an undergraduate degree in the ECE domain, I was always attracted to computers. That is how I discovered my penchant for the domain and started paving my career trajectory in that direction. Excited and motivated to learn new skills in the world of technology and Computer Science, I am now ready for the quest to pursue a career in Computer Science.

My motivation to apply for this course comes from my undergraduate degree from [UNIVERSITY NAME], [CITY], [STATE]. Of all the subjects, I was mostly drawn to the Computer Science domain and by that token, I invested my time and effort in helping them out in their projects and succeeded well, which bought me appreciation from the Computer Science Department head and recognition for my inquisitiveness in that area and encouraged me to pursue my interests in this field. This made me realize that designing apps and getting involved in the tech world brought me happiness. It also gave me the motivation to pursue online courses and polish my skills in programming languages. So, I got involved in projects that connected me to this area extensively. One such project was a School Automation model using IoT. We were successful in creating a tool that could control the lights of the classroom and the students' attendance on its own. The light sensors were motion-controlled, so we designed a mobile app to control the same manually. Additionally, we made sure that the tool was cost-effective so that homeowners could apply it at home.

Beyond the requirements of my course, I found myself working on an array of projects like Net Banking Application, Uber Ride Data Analytics, and a tool for Credit Card Fraud Detection. Besides, I used my knowledge and skills to design an Expense Tracker Web-based Application using Python Flask and MySQL along with my teammates. There were also times when I initiated self-projects and got appreciation from professors of the Computer Science Department of my college. This encouraged me to keep further exploring my dreams and interests in the field of software and Computer Science.

I took part in Coding Hackathon, Live Project at a smart village Hackathon and volunteered as a member of various events at the annual college fest. These events helped my personal growth and built qualities like leadership skills, compassion, time-management, team spirit, communication skills, and many others. It is not big of a surprise to people that I am switching my study area as I proceed from my undergraduate degree to MS in Computer Science. The reason is crystal clear. Although I was a student of ECE, I never thought of myself as someone outside the Computer Science branch. No doubt, I performed excellently in my course of the specialization. But I kept a hand-tied to the door of Computer Science as well so that I never miss out on an opportunity to learn new things in this field and prosper towards my area of interest.

As such, I moved on with learning through online courses in subjects that polished my skills to be an efficient Software Developer. I pursued my interests by signing for online courses in software programming languages like Python, Java, SQL. Additionally, I also learned new web designing languages like Advanced CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, Angular 10, Mongo DB and Django Framework, alongside others. Currently, I am learning about Machines and tools that are closely or remotely related to this course. As is evident, I earned various certifications to bump up my levels in my career trajectory. SQL Essentials, Microsoft Technology Associate, AWS are some of the areas I am technically certified in. Additionally, I have in-depth experience in training 30-40 candidates in Python and related technologies. While playing the role of a trainer, I observed my growth in terms of self-confidence and communication skills.

Together with these academic experiences, I took my time to nurture myself in other aspects as well. Photography is one of my favorite leisure-time activities that helped me explore life's important moments and capture those moments. Besides, nature photography has always had a hang in me. I am also interested in playing video games with my friends that double as stress-busters and help me get back to work more actively. I also possess an affinity for sports. I used to play cricket in college and have won awards in inter-college cricket matches. Among all these, exercise and music are constant in my list of hobbies.

With such robust qualities and uncompromised interest in the field of Computer Science, I stepped into my first job as Software Engineer at [COMPANY NAME] in July 2019. My role allows me to develop the FM/OBD software dealing with [CLIENT COMPANY NAME] as my client. Additionally, the role also enabled me to deal with Python test automation framework activities that gave me the basic idea of automation work using Python. My current role has given me immense exposure in the field. I have performed efficiently in all the projects that came my way with 100% client satisfaction regarding deliverability or quality of work.

I believe my interest in Computer Science is highly comprehensive and cannot be sufficed with limited knowledge. I intend to pursue all the information in its various nuances that help me explore new heights. This is why I am applying to your esteemed university that will offer me the exposure I seek. At the same time, I shall pursue the degree of MS in Computer Science and build my career trajectory in the path of being an efficient and expert Software Developing Engineer.
