Education and learning are a continuous journey, which enables the development of a person's capabilities as a complete individual. It is very important that a person be able to make the most of his formative years to attempt to realize what he has aptitude for. At this juncture, towards the completion of my undergraduate study, I, [NAME], can claim to have prudently chosen the path for my future.

# Background

I always had a special fondness in Mathematics and Sciences. A great asset in my computer engineering area is my analytical and problem solving skills. Right from my childhood, Mathematics is my forte. My school scores in both Mathematics and Science stand as an evidence to this. As an extent to my passion to explore more of Mathematics, after my grade 10, I preferred Mathematics as key subject, which led my path towards Engineering. Choosing Computer Science comes out of a more specific interest; getting my first computer at an early age, I was always fascinated of how Computers work and how we associate with their specific programs.

In relevance with my interests, my admission in Computer Science and Engineering in [UNIVERSITY], was always a proud choice, as it was a major stride I had taken in the process of learning. This also assisted me to advance my quest for acquiring knowledge in the field I desire to see myself in.

# My Academic and Research Interests

In a world where application-oriented research is the need of the hour, my affinity was always towards areas that had wide-ranging applications, supporting my view of applying theory to practice in various fields in the form of technology.

In my under graduation, I was attracted to the following: Programming languages like C, C++ and Java, subjects like Software Engineering, Web Technologies, Database Management Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, etc.

However, no topic in Computer Science can be dealt within isolation from other topics. My interest is not restricted to the above mentioned subjects, but enthralled to Computer Programming and their applications in real time environments. The considerations for these, as such require a great deal of effort to master and are very vividly attractive. I therefore chose to gain further knowledge within these fields.

# What efforts have I put towards my goal?

I had made it a point to be very careful and sound with my fundamentals of the subjects that may be deemed to be prerequisites to my proposed research area. As such, I have maintained a good and consistent academic record throughout the period of study especially in these subjects. I have strong fundamentals in major programming languages like C, C++, Java and also web-related programming using HTML, Python. I also have a decent grip on the concepts of Database Management using SQL queries.

Rather than merely being a book worm, I have implemented these concepts in a project named "IOT BASED SMART VEHICLE MONITORING SYSTEM FOR DETECTING ACCIDENTS AND THEFT" which I did in the 6th semester of my under graduation. The main objective of this project is over speed, sudden slow down of vehicles and traffic etc., are the major reasons for majority of accidents. According to 2016 real time traffic accident statistics, all over the world, 853,849 was the number of people dying in vehicular accidents. The majority of deaths are due to lack of immediate medical care. The medical care is not provided immediately due to the delay of information to reach the authorities.

This project proposes an IOT based vehicle control and monitoring system that detects the accidents immediately and alerts the police, ambulance. So that, medical care will be provided immediately. The device also helps to find out the vehicle location during theft or accidents. The device also sends the vehicle coordinates, speed to a central database, which can be used for further analysis like reasons for accidents.

# Why Graduate Study?

While the undergraduate courses enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved in a particular discipline of Engineering, they do not present the opportunity to learn the essentials of technologies that are current within the industry. I feel the need to take up Graduate Study as it would take me closer to the kind of technical expertise that satisfies my professional desires and enables me to specialize and carry out research activities in areas that I am interested. I have decided to pursue active research in an academic environment as a career, and my ambition is to make an original contribution to knowledge.

# Extra-Curriculars

Apart from the academic life, I always like to participate in many extra-curricular activities and did so whenever I got an opportunity. I always initiated the participation in any sports competitions. I enthusiastically took part in all the sports at school and College level. I sometimes played cricket in district level and also published in a newspaper "[NEWSPAPER]". I have always been an active participant in sports. I bagged many medals in sports.

During my childhood, I have undergone Cricket coaching, which incidentally was the very place where [NAME], a great cricketer of India was trained. I carried that inspiration to become the winning captain of the Cricket Cup in my school and college, which eventually helped my "[TOURNAMENT]" to win the cricket CUP in 12th standard. These leadership abilities made me the college Pupil Leader which gave me a great platform to display my inter-personal skills and improve upon my leadership qualities which were later lauded by the Director of my college and other lecturers.

# Conclusion

I have ensured that I approach my field of study with due conviction and commitment, hoping that this effort would aid me when I join my Master's program.
