Statement of Purpose

I am [NAME], a Computer Science undergraduate and a passionate IT enthusiast hailing from Telangana, India. I consider this as an excellent opportunity to express my interest in this course.

I was born in an agricultural family and grew up in the lush green fields of XXXXX. Farming is the primary activity of our family and we believe in harmonious sustainable agricultural practices. My parents gave a lot of importance to my education. I was encouraged to learn science and mathematics along with language and soft skills. My schooling at [HIGH_SCHOOL_NAME] opened the window to the world of Computer Science. I explored the uses of computers and found new ways to employ computers in agriculture and daily life. The usage of computers and internet opened new avenues of knowledge and connectivity, be it in agriculture or education. It motivated me to pursue my under-graduation in Computer Science.

Post completion of my schooling, I decided to opt for B.Tech in Computer Science at [UNIVERSITY_NAME], XXXX. My interest in pursuing a career in the software industry made me research a lot about the industry and its requirements, and the skills needed to ace a successful career. One particular thing which I noticed is the lifestyle of the people involved in the software industry and other white collar jobs. The application of computers and smartphones have become centric in everyone's life and most people strike an imbalance in time and energy spent on these digital devices. On one hand, they reap the benefits of the digital world and on the other hand, pay a huge price compromising their health and lifestyle choices. In my belief, the solution to this problem can come from nothing but computer science itself. A new age development of computer science applications incorporated into everyone's lifestyle is yet to be explored.

Concepts such as automation in computer science have largely reduced the man hours needed to be spent before the screen. Voice assistance provided with digital devices has definitely changed the interface style. Post the Covid pandemic, I believe a revolutionary change will sweep the field of computer science applications and this Masters Course will help me rise as a leader with innovative ideas and skills to cater the growing field of computer science. I wish to dig deeply into the newly developing areas of computer science and this course will be a game changer in my life.

My under-graduation has provided me with the basics and developed my thought process to be able to absorb knowledge and bring innovation out of it. Courses such as C programming, C++, Python and Java helped me understand the language of computers. I have good command over my programming skills and I have performed various projects that exhibit my programming skills and providing me a practical learning experience. My first project was an "Airline Booking System". This project was completely designed using C language. It was an extension of my programming language learning course. I was able to implement my theoretical knowledge in this project and understand the functioning of the program. It gave me confidence to build applications that can be used for daily chores and in a variety of fields where usage of computer applications can simplify the work.

Taking part in various technical events such as workshops, seminars, and hackathon events conducted in our college helped me gain knowledge outside the classroom learning. I could interact with professionals and widen my understanding about the professional standards that has to be achieved in order to succeed in this field. I understood that achieving uniqueness with the given tools and resources are the key to progress. My second project was on "QR Code generation for Attendance Report". It was developed using Python. Attendance system is an application that has been recreated over a multiple times and coming up with a unique feature posed a challenge. It was when I came across using QR Codes for various purposes and I immediately visualized the application of QR Code to the attendance report project. Each time a unique QR code is generated and sent to the user which has to be used for validating their attendance. It is a fool proof method to ensure attendance when used with sensible QR code generation timing. The project became a huge success and gained the appreciation of all the faculty members and students in our college.

I wanted to perform my final project on a topic that reflects my ideology and balancing the digital life with the normal world. Keeping this in mind, I chose to create an "Educational Chatbot for Visually Impaired People". This is an android application that can be used as an interface for Google search and also, accessing the data without the use of a monitor using voice interface. When it comes to visually impaired people, this is mandatory and it can be used by other people as well who are seeking to minimize the time spent before a screen. It can be very helpful for students for their online classes and is a very flexible application. I used Google Dialogflow for creating the voice based interface. This project was chosen as the best project in our college and the management and faculty members encouraged me to further develop the idea and publish it as a research paper. I have since started working on this area to publish a research paper. During this project, I realized the importance of the Masters Course and its relevance to achieve my passion.

Apart from academics, I actively participated in all the extra-curricular activities in our college. The technical events conducted in our college grabbed my attention and I devoted time in participating and also, organizing these events in our college. Especially the events conducted by the [ORGANIZATION_NAME] team of our college were very knowledgeable and proved to be an opportunity to exhibit my management skills. I was an active member of the [ORGANIZATION_NAME] of our college. We involved in a lot of outreach programmes, such as health awareness camps, blood donation camps and educational activities for children. I wish to dedicate my time towards participating in such social ventures in accordance with my Masters Course.
