Statement of Purpose

In an era where computers are at the forefront of every innovation and development, it is a no-brainer for a professional like me to align my career to reach higher shores in this field. These days, nations and federations are all set on going digital. Software is the fabric that unites boundaries, extends realities and encompasses anomalies. I, personally feel that I'm in the software field at a very convenient time. For someone as ambitious as me, the world has opened up many avenues to pursue science and I'm grateful to be applying for a potential master's degree at your esteemed university.

My connection with computers started around the time I was in high school. That was the time when the foundations of the offline world were slowly shifting towards digital. Having witnessed the latest waves of digital revolution up-close, I've since been fascinated by technology and the computation that takes place behind the scenes. Fast-forward a few years and I'm so happily set in as an undergraduate student in computer science and engineering. I completed my academics with so much glee and enthusiasm. Each day was a discovery and I felt like I was inching closer to my dream of becoming better than the day before—a constant endeavor.

During my undergraduate coursework, I was especially interested in subjects like C, JAVA, Python, Big Data Analytics, Operation Systems and Data Base Management Systems. These courses along with others have helped me form a strong theoretical foundation which is the fundamental prerequisite for the application of concepts. Furthermore, I've sharpened my practical skills by investing individual efforts during my internship and project. My internship concluded with delivering a sales management system for the local markets in [CITY]; and my college project resulted in a curriculum management system that aids my college professors in managing the coursework and all aspects—scholastic and otherwise. Both the projects give me immense pleasure as they have been publicly implemented and accepted as organizational systems.

Along with my academics, I've participated in ample sporting and extra-curricular events. I bagged a district-level silver medal in power-lifting. Also, I've led multiple events as a coordinator and organized workshops as a facilitator of [ORGANIZATION], a salient body of [ORGANIZATION]. I've volunteered in putting together many branch-specific events like hackathons, technical workshops, seminars and debugging contests. During the 4 years at my college, I've never let an opportunity to help a social cause pass me by. Immediately after graduating in 2019, I successfully landed a placement offer with a leading MNC, [COMPANY]. It was a brand-new chapter in my career and with an abided heart, I started as a Programmer Analyst. Two years into the job, I've now climbed up to the position of SAP ABAP Developer. During my time here, I was chiseled into a professional on so many levels. I learned effective teamwork, managerial skills, interacting professionally with clients, volunteering even out of the work hours, and many more. I unlearned many conventional ways as I progressed and navigated through the company. Despite giving my soft skills a boost, I also became proficient in technical skills by working on Classical, Interactive and Object-Oriented Reports, SAP scripts, Smartforms, Adobe forms, Dialog Interface including BDC, BAPI, and IDOC, Data Dictionary, Smart Forms, Module Pool, enhancements including User Exits, BADI, SAP Performance Tuning and Trouble Shooting. Apart from SAP ABAP, I have also worked in the Sales and Distribution module which took me to the next level of understanding the business workflow and requirements. It was my natural instinct to produce the best results and quality in my work without compromising on the deadlines. This effort was appreciated by clients, project manager as well as from our functional bodies on multiple occasions for having delivered maximum quality in a timely and consistent manner.

My journey at [COMPANY] was pivotal in providing a clear thought-process in the clouded times of the Covid-19 pandemic. The workplace was so amazing that I started cozying up in my comfort zone. Even as I was moving up the ranks in the company or was nearing a six-figure salary, I lacked a sense of fulfilment. So, I took some time to introspect what I wanted to do and where I wanted to lead my career. I must say, the contemplation was mentally grueling, but I'm happy that I reached a conclusion and am now laser-focused on what I want to do and where I want to be.

Now that I have the fundamental aptitude, knowledge, and job experience in the sphere of technology industry, I believe it is the right time to pursue post-graduate studies in the field of my interest, and I am confident that my aspirations will be a great match for your program.
