Statement of Purpose
There was a time when students were not allowed to use mobile phones within the premises of an academic institute. Then with COVID-19, tables turned, and phones became the medium of education. Thus, the marvels of computer science have enabled the teachers to deliver online interactive-based lectures to innumerable students concurrently. I have been fortunate to not only witness this but even usher this in my undergraduate institute. Furthermore, thanks to computer science, there has been an influx of e-learning platforms and applications, giving the learners access to the best of the courses and tools of their domain. Computer Science has always sensed an opportunity in every adversity, and the above breakthrough is just one of the inspiring tales. There are many more, and many more will be further written in the interest of humanity. To be one such contributor by deftly deploying computer science's advanced theories and technologies, I have chosen the Master of Science in Computer Science at your university.
To give a professional shape to my childhood interests in computers, I opted for the B. Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) course at [UNIVERSITY_1]. It is part of the mammoth [INSTITUTION_GROUP_1]. I consider myself lucky to enroll in this program. That's because it gave me excellent orientation with the various concepts of computers and even allowed me to test them through projects and internships.
Through my first project, I built an online student mentoring platform to enable [INSTITUTION_GROUP_1] students to easily interact and communicate with their mentors and address their personal and college-related issues. This service was used by over 3600 students which helped many students open their thoughts and share their daily situations with respected mentors in lockdown period, so that mental support would be ensured for every student.
My next assignment, 'Resume Generator,' entailed assisting the students with creating their resumes. I implemented a form which once filled and submitted, generates a personalized resume and instantly shares it with the student through email. My last project was 'Digital Classes,' through which I connected the students and teachers by virtual classrooms. Using this digital platform, faculties can deliver lectures, share assignments with the students, organize tests and give marks to the pupils. Me with a team of three students began working on this assignment amidst very short notice due to the lockdown on account of the pandemic. We built this set-up by working non-stop for 48 hours as every passing day was resulting in the wastage of many man-days. My institute, [INSTITUTION_GROUP_1], used this project to conduct classes during COVID.
As an intern at my college's Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), I developed the department's website. In the second year of my B. Tech., along with my three seniors, I rolled out a start-up, '[COMPANY_1].' Under this enterprise, we worked on more than ten projects of web designing, developing, and managing software. This stint was my first-hand exposure to the actual industrial world. It enlightened me on the process and hardships of setting up and running an organization efficiently.
Further, I served as the Administrator for [PORTAL_NAME] ([URL]) from the sophomore to the final year of my CSE course. In this role, I maintained the student portal of [INSTITUTION_GROUP_1] Institutions and integrated projects that could help students and faculty communicate easily and efficiently. I was the first person in my college history to take up the responsibility of maintaining the college portal in my first year. In addition to these projects, I assumed many more additional roles. Pursuing this program will equip me with the competencies to address an organization's modern and complex computing challenges. The various experiential learning modes, like projects, workshops, and internships, will allow me to apply the domain concepts in fixing real-world IT issues. Overall, the program will augment my job prospects and transform me into a highly sought-after IT professional.
Upon graduating, I will be looking for a job role that befits my qualification and gives me a broad canvas to apply and grow my technological learning. Particularly, I would be exploring the opportunity that allows me ample scope to utilize my education in the generation of pioneering solutions to troubleshoot current and likely technical bottlenecks.
