Statement of Purpose

We live in the middle of a technological revolution – especially in the field of computer science. In today's information age, having the knowledge of electronics and communication together with computer science in a meaningful and in-depth manner is of great privilege. If we have to produce an efficient and useful system, both software and hardware must be co-designed. Hence, I've opted for Electronics and Communication Engineering as my major. I visualized the beauty of computer science in my undergraduate course after dealing with C Programming, Data structure and Algorithms, Java, Database Management Systems. And it is this love for programming, blended with my strong desire to deep dive into various applications and technologies, which propels me to apply for a Master's in Computer Science.

Even from my foundational academic years, I was very dedicated to learning new things. This conscientious nature of mine has carried over to my higher education as well where I was able to score 9.2 GPA in my secondary education, and the exceptional 98.3% in my Higher Secondary Examinations. My high scores in "IIT-JEE Mains", the All-India Engineering Entrance Examination conducted for admissions to the topmost universities in India for Engineering, put me in the top 0.5% of all the exam takers and helped me secure admission to one of the topmost universities, [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. Despite my undergraduate degree being in Electronics and Communication Engineering, our well-designed curriculum with balanced weightage in both software and hardware provided me with a good understanding of fundamentals. Subjects like C programming, Data Structures, Computer networks, Analog communication, VLSI design, microprocessors etc., helped me in understanding the logical link between software and hardware and this triggered my interest in software development.

Along with my academic growth, I also gained hands-on experience with developing projects. In my Senior year, I built a 'Personal Assistant For Visually Impaired' which can perform tasks such as recognizing objects and reading any document which otherwise would need the dependence on others. I have garnered expertise in domains like Image pre-processing, object detection, optical character recognition and speech recognition. Through this project, I have gained an in-depth perspective into the challenges involved in innovating and in the practical implementation of an idea and taught me to work efficiently in a team. In another project, as a team, we developed an 'Autonomous Vehicle Detection And Counting' System that helps in controlling traffic congestion by detecting and counting the number of vehicles on the road which would further help in controlling traffic lights. While working on this project, I realized the importance of computers and programming in the modern world. Given my enthusiasm for this project, I decided to lead it meticulously. My management along with technical skills was tested here.

Apart from indulging myself solely in academics, I never shunned away from extracurricular activities. I always wanted myself to be the best in sports and the game of CRICKET always has the pure dominance in my life. I started playing when I was in 6th grade. From that moment on, I have practised a lot on daily basis to become the best player, for every match that I play for my team. I have won so much in both school levels and college levels to pay myself for the tough practice sessions that I have gone through. The game taught me so much about teamwork and how to sweat hard to become a champion. I have led my team to victory at various levels as a cool Captain, which has helped to improve my leadership, communication, team building and management skills and qualities.

Owing to my academic merits, I received an exciting job offer from [COMPANY_NAME] as a 'Software Development Engineer'. [COMPANY_NAME] is an Indian multinational technology company that specializes in digital payment systems, e-commerce and finance. Daily responsibilities include managing real-time orders placed at [COMPANY_NAME], solving the issues that occur in the staging and production environment and developing new features when required. These included the skills of analysis, design, development, customization, and implementation of Java/J2EE applications. I have worked on backend development, where I have developed spring boot applications with Rest API. I also built my abilities in database management, object-oriented programming. It was working here for 18 months now, that my zeal had taken an initial contour. I was poured with surplus opportunities around me to learn, explore, build, experiment, renovate and give a shape to myself. I learnt the concepts of IT services practically. I gained buoyancy in myself. Having gained expertise in the development and acquainted with the industry, this is the right time for me to go for further specialization. Ultimately, I have decided to pursue the Master's course in Computer Science.

The most desirable destination for my postgraduate studies is the USA, the country that is the heart and brain of computer researches. The flourishing tech industry is a testimony of the high quality of education offered by the country's universities. The impeccable value the master program will bestow upon my profile has also played a crucial role in coercing me to select the USA for my higher education.

The research to find the most suitable University matching my aspirations have allowed me to understand the academic and research capabilities of a range of universities across the US.
