STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Since childhood, my parents taught me to find contentment, not in materialistic possessions but in the happiness of others. Raised by humanitarian parents, a strong emphasis was laid on giving back to the community during my upbringing. By leading by example, my father, a military personnel, taught me how to utilize intellectual capabilities for solving real-world problems, starting from home. On the other hand, my mother taught me how to implement this approach in doing my bit towards causes which I deeply care about. At an early age, I developed a profound interest in technology which led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. As technology has taken over every facet of life, people have realized the power of automation and technology. Thus, what inspires me to take a course powered by ML or AI is to work for the people, to make infinite solutions that technology provides available to everyone. I want to pursue a Master's degree to utilize my inherent ability to design and develop in Computer Science to benefit society through automation.

Today, Computer Science has not only become ubiquitous but also become smarter and more interconnected with each passing day. I am keen to delve deeper into this field and build a strong skill-set that would help me thrive as a professional. Right from my school days, I have been keen on gaining a thorough understanding of subjects and this enabled me to perform well in academics and build a strong academic record. As a professional with almost 4 years of experience, I have faced many industrial challenges like improving productivity, optimization, stability, reliability, safety, and continuity; this has inspired me to explore how system engineers design, develop, maintain, and manage the instruments and this has led to my decision of pursuing a master's program.

I realized the power and influence of technology in day-to-day business practices when I first joined [COMPANY_A] as a full-time developer, designing solutions. Since I was already well-versed with languages like C++ and SQL during school time, it was natural for me to opt for a career that I am passionate about, and also equally good at. As a fresher in college, I was chosen for the "Coders Club," an elite, qualifiers-only club run by HOD CS faculty and programming geniuses of college. This club aimed to groom the chosen ones, students who were coding enthusiasts and skilled at it. I topped the qualifying exam and was chosen for Java programming. My faculty members highly appreciated my efforts and skill set as it was rare for a freshman year student to ace that exam, especially when the topics were not covered in our regular curriculum. By 3rd year, I was heading this club as president and incorporated a new curriculum under the guidance of HOD for mentoring the first and second year students.

In order to challenge my coding aptitude, I decided to participate in the [COMPANY_B] air travel hackathon conducted by [COMPANY_C], where I came across the hacker, hustler, hipster concept of building a team. The challenge was to build a hack for the booking ticket webpage of [COMPANY_B] with a team which was given to us on the spot, and we came runner up after continuous brainstorming and continuous programming of 24 hours.

Another interesting experience was joining the [ORGANIZATION_A] as an evangelist to give talks on Open Source projects, data privacy, web literacy and to conduct a [ORGANIZATION_A] hackathon to develop web extensions for browsers. This contribution to the Open Source Software community gave me great exposure to the power of millions of technology enthusiasts across the globe.

My wish to take a deeper dive into subjects like AI and machine learning made me participate in the [COMPANY_A] hiring challenge, an all-India Hackathon, and I was one of the 4 selected interns. Even though I had offer letters for full-time roles from [COMPANY_D], [COMPANY_E], and [COMPANY_F], I decided to go for an internship with [COMPANY_A] as it offered several learning opportunities which I really wanted to utilize to the best of my abilities.

One of the stepping stones for me was the day I joined [COMPANY_A] as a Software Engineer III. This time, on the organization's demand, I refined my Angular Framework (Frontend) skillset in order to develop a Real-time Training and Analysis Portal for the AI Assistant solutions. While this made me learn about UI/UX development, it also gave me immense expertise in risk calculation, change management, deployment, and rollback of Enterprise-grade Cloud applications. My hard work and perseverance paid off when I was ranked as an Outperformer and promoted to the role of Software Engineer II. Just after being promoted, I decided to strengthen my core skills by learning smarter capabilities like Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Intent prediction from a sentence using the latest Machine Learning algorithms as well as Open Source frameworks for conversational AI solutions, and gradually I brought them into [COMPANY_A]'s AI Platform.

Over the last 4 years of experience at [COMPANY_A], I have led "[PROJECT_NAME] - AI Assistant," the project which we had started as interns, to an "Enterprise Conversational AI Platform" and integrated it into many Enterprise applications. One of the most critical use cases of the platform today is the Enterprise AI-enabled Chat Servicing Tool with seamless chatbot to human handover capabilities, saving tremendous man-hours and presenting state-of-the-art machine learning capabilities at an enterprise scale. In the recent desperate times of the pandemic, I once again felt the need to unleash my passion to use technology for good and not just limit it to a business solution or need for employability, and implemented [COMPANY_A]'s Covid-19 Vaccinator and Info Bot project.

However, I realize that specialization is a necessity to understand new techniques and improve upon the existing ones, especially in rapidly advancing fields like CS that offer a scope of improving the lives of our current and future generations. A deeper understanding of intricacies and finer appreciation of subtleties demands a research-oriented graduate education. In the next 2 years, I envision myself in a core technology firm, leading projects and implementing machine learning algorithms that would deliver faster solutions for challenges, thereby enhancing human efficiency.

As I do not want to compromise on the quality of education and need an institution that focuses extensively on practical learning, being a part of [UNIVERSITY_A] is the most logical culmination of my dreams. Pursuing a Master's in Computer Science (MCS) from your globally acknowledged university will surely add wings to my broad skill set. Your honored university became my first and foremost choice owing to its diverse and fulfilling curriculum. Moreover, I have met colleagues at my firm ([COMPANY_A]) who are alumni of [UNIVERSITY_A] and have heard about the course structure. Also, I have my counterparts and colleagues working in [CITY_A], Arizona, making it a suitable location for me to work post-Master's. To learn and work at a place that does not restrict the students to limit themselves to the confined boundaries of the classroom but instead allows them to explore out of the box is a truly intriguing aspect of the university.

I firmly believe that I can successfully work in tandem with the university's goals and make significant contributions at all levels, thereby adding value to the university's reputation. Therefore, I urge you to consider my candidature for the master's program.
