STATEMENT OF ACADEMIC INTENT

At a young age, I discovered the importance of academics. My participation in Quizzes, Olympiads and Competitions were not only interest-based. The achievements and rewards received worked as a true force of inspiration and motivation for me. To date, I value gaining knowledge and this is what has molded me to pursue bachelors in engineering. When I stepped into a professional work environment, I realized the role of interpersonal and managerial skills. Most of the time, I worked on the technical aspects which have groomed me into a technically sound person. But, the art of knowledge sharing and guiding others is well depicted by the management aspects. To work on these, I would like to enroll myself in the Masters in Engineering Management program at your reputed university. It will help me develop the topmost managerial skills keeping my engineering background intact.

I have always been a dutiful student willing to use time judiciously. I have never restrained my knowledge to the textbooks but looked for diverse sources to understand the pragmatic scope of the subjects I learned. During my first summer break, I utilized my time in learning 3D Modelling CAD software's which helped me in developing intermediate designing skills and I brought those up to perfection while working in the [ORGANIZATION]. I also availed myself of an opportunity for a 2-month summer internship in [COMPANY] after the 4th semester. Where I worked as an intern in the Supplier Quality Assurance department. I learned about the various testing and defect analysis techniques used in industries along with the concepts of material handling. This internship provided me with an opportunity to work on challenging projects related to shop-floor efficiency and taught me a valuable skill of tackling engineering problems. In the end, I also delivered a short presentation to my manager, which was well appreciated and helped me in building my industrial experience.

In my 6th semester, I got an on-campus placement for a 6-months internship at [COMPANY]. I worked as a Structural Design intern and was provided with an opportunity to get a hands-on experience with something new and fascinating. My work in the organization was to generate 3D solid models of Drones and UAV's using advanced software's and convert them into prototypes. With my proficiency in Computer-Aided Design, I successfully lead a team of four and was able to construct a fully flyable prototype using complex fabrication techniques during this short period. This internship helped me a lot in boosting my technical as well as practical knowledge with a sense of responsibility. All of my achievements in technical and co-curricular events has motivated me towards a bright future. These achievements and responsibilities are well reflected in my CV attached along.

After completion of my bachelor's, I started working as a Software Developer in [COMPANY]. I got an on-campus placement with a head start towards a professional life and carrier progression. I was trained as a Full Stack Developer by the organization and now over the past 1 year (since June 2020), I have been working as a Front End Developer for a US-based Insurance client's Website. My profile falls under the category of Website Maintenance & Support. In addition to this, I have also created an Online Examination Portal for users as a team project. Where, admins can design and create tests for various technologies as per their requirement and users can test themselves with gradually increasing levels. My additional projects with the organization include the development of various Data Filtering User interfaces for backend developers. Making it convenient for the users to fetch data from the database, using diversified dropdowns and Smart Query generation filters.

While working as a professional, I understood the challenges of a manager's role; the responsibilities and accountabilities, how a manager must conduct himself in such a taxing and dynamic business environment. I have observed managers making important decisions, solving conflicts, carrying out negotiations and managing people. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enhance their professionalism. Based on my keen interest and self-introspection, I realized that my academic experience wasn't good enough and that I would not be able to take advantage of the myriad of opportunities the industry offered to a professional like me as I simply lacked focused academic exposure in management studies. Having realized that I needed to train myself better, I chose to pursue the Masters in Engineering Management Program from your esteemed university. This program will not only be knowledgeable in terms of management aspects but will also help me to bridge a gap between my engineering fundamentals transitioning into the managerial professional, I aspire to be. Therefore, will help me in applying the engineering principles to organize and direct technical projects and manage the people within them.

I would like to gain industrial exposure during the first few years in the short-term. In the long-term, after gaining practical exposure in the field, I would like to manage highly valuable projects in techno-management organizations leading a large team. The Engineering Management Master's Program at [UNIVERSITY] is a perfect niche for developing the appropriate skills. This course will be not only define my future towards a professional path but also will help me in becoming a well-managed and organized person in life. My expectations from this course are as high as my dedication. Thus, I firmly believe that the University with an astral faculty, a dynamic peer group and illustrious alumni-network, will certainly be a stepping-stone and provide me with a competitive advantage in my pursuit of a career in management.
