Statement of Purpose

I used to dream in my school days, a dream to be a man of different kind to do something different and that dream got the wings to fly when I came across the first cell phone gifted by my parent. I couldn't fathom just how the feeling was at that time as if the sky was the limit. It was then I knew that I had to dedicate my entire life towards the Science of Electronics and Communication. The Technology which will bring people closer to one another and make everyday life easier especially for the people who are the children of lesser God. I also drew inspiration from the famous quote of Astronaut [NAME] "That is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" uttered by the American after becoming the first man to step on the moon. That realization drove me to take up Electronics and Communication as my bachelor's specialization as well as to apply to the [UNIVERSITY] for this prestigious program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

My undergraduate course helped me build a strong foundation in technical skills and knowledge like the Internet of Things (IoT), Embedded Systems, Microelectronics Circuits and VLSI. With my final CGPA being 9.02/10, I consistently excelled at academics while becoming proficient in subjects like Digital Electronics, Computer Architecture and Organisation, Microelectronics Circuits, and Digital Signal Processing. But the classroom proved to be too small to encompass my academic ambitions. Taking advantage of our expertise in technology, my team and I formed a student research lab called '[RESEARCH_LAB]' in our university to help other students from different backgrounds to learn about emerging technologies like AI, IoT, AR/VR and Blockchains. Most of our lab members demonstrated immense competence outside the boundaries of our college and were able to win global hackathons, publish research papers in top conferences, and secure internships abroad. The '[RESEARCH_LAB]' also won the QS silver award for Reimagining Education in spite of competing against reputed universities like [UNIVERSITY] and [UNIVERSITY].

In my semester abroad at the [COLLEGE] at [UNIVERSITY], I got the opportunity to win around four international hackathons and published two research papers at conferences conducted by the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). One of those papers discussing 'Implementation of Human Detection on Raspberry Pi for Smart Surveillance' addressed the issue of theft by using pre-trained weights of Single Shot Multibox Detector while the other titled 'Low-cost IoT+ML design for smart farming with multiple applications' suggested automation of irrigation using ML and IoT. I have also received a Gold Medal for my research work under the 'Internet of Things' category from [NAME], former director of the [RESEARCH_CENTRE] and a key player in India's development of nuclear weapons. In addition to my varied research experience, I have also designed and reviewed course modules while interning at [COMPANY], a tech-ed platform that aims to make tech education accessible, affordable and achievable for everyone.

Although research is my first love, I believe that gaining professional experience in the fields such as electronics engineering would be critical towards understanding the inner gears that keep the world moving. After graduating from my master's program, I hope to further enhance my practical skills by working with a reputed MNC like [COMPANY], [COMPANY], [COMPANY], etc. in the capacity of an engineer. In order to gain a better understanding of the education sector, I hope to involve myself in tasks regarding teaching or advising students. I also want to continue developing my research abilities in order to innovate solutions that address the problems of people in their everyday life, particularly the people of developing countries. After gaining the necessary skills and knowledge, I wish to diversify my professional experience by dabbling in sectors such as education, healthcare, startups, etc. Leveraging my diversified capacities, I aim to start a new venture that directly addresses the problem of child labour by providing quality education to underprivileged children living in remote areas of India.

However, I still have a lot to learn before I step into the professional realm of engineering and technology. I believe that this program in Electrical and Computer Engineering would be the perfect stepping stone towards achieving all the career goals that I have envisioned. My attraction towards the program initially bloomed after I recognized the excellence of the faculty and the cross-disciplinary nature of its curriculum. I hope to experience modules regarding Digital Design for Systems-on-Chip as I think they would endow me with the knowledge particular to Digital Electronics while modules like VLSI Design Methodology will enhance the practical application skill of such knowledge in real-life cases. As Professor [NAME]'s work on "Resource and Memory Management Techniques for the High-Level Synthesis of Software Threads into Parallel FPGA Hardware" has especially inspired me to consider the problems regarding the performance of HLS-generated parallel hardware and how we can improve the performance, area, and area-delay product of parallel HLS-generated hardware, I look forward to interacting with him. To stimulate the overall growth of my personality, I hope to interact with the diverse and enterprising student body of the [UNIVERSITY] Engineering Society. Moreover, I hope to leverage the rich alumni network of the [UNIVERSITY] to cement my position as a leader in the industry.

Getting a degree from the [UNIVERSITY] is not just to help me to secure a job or start my own business but it will also nourish and push my desire to give back to society by creating a platform from where I can develop a system/methodology for communication which will be helpful for the day to day life of common people. I believe that my research aptitude and my ambition towards engineering makes me the perfect candidate for this course and I hope that this application is a reflection of the same.
