STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Being a student of Bachelors in IT and a lifelong technology enthusiast, I have always believed the digital world is full of exciting opportunities and solutions. Data will play a crucial role in our future as it has been since the last decade. From an early age, I was a problem solver, be it in sports, administration activities, or academics. But one thing which stood above all for me was the love for computers and data. I was mesmerized by the idea of predicting the future and hindrances by computing, algorithms, and analyzing statistics, patterns, and how they can be visualized and manipulated to achieve a greater good. One of the lines which stuck to me in my undergraduate program was that data science is all about bringing one's inner detective into action and being immersed within the problem and using interesting mathematical algorithms to explore large and, in most cases, complicated data sets. To me, the sets of data and the need to problem-solve is nothing less than art. I possess a great foundational knowledge of Data Science and Data Engineering as I was fortunate enough to get hands-on practical experiences during my college years. But the market today is changing at a tremendous pace in incredible ways with already a strong base in AI and machine learning. And Data Science assists these new technologies in ways one can not dream of. As a result, I have decided to dip my toes into this niche to expand my horizon of knowledge and become a part of visionary professionals for the betterment of technology and humankind.

Growing up, I had a keen interest in Mathematics and technology. After passing high school, I opted to study the Science stream in my senior secondary years. During this time, I developed a fascination with computers. I was first exposed to codes and excelled in the basics of C, C++, and Python language. This idea of what one can achieve by just typing a few codes on a small screen hooked me at first. But to further pursue my passion and to gain more knowledge in data, applications, and programming, I needed professional training. In 2017, I went ahead to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. This institution provided me with a nurturing environment for my skills to grow, along with sharing ideas with talented and enthusiastic colleagues. There I learned deep insights into computer applications, software, multiple Operating systems, AI, Computer networks, Data structuring & management, algorithms, and Machine learning. Being a fast learner, I became proficient in languages like advanced C++, Python, and IoT and were enhanced later in my professional work. I participated in numerous workshops related to IoT & Data Science and undertook various projects in these subjects which were intensive research-based and needed great management skills too while working with teams. To fulfill my quench for knowledge, I further studied various extra courses from [ONLINE_PLATFORM]. Some courses and certificates revolved around topics such as Storage Concepts, Prediction of future prices of products using [TOOL_NAME], Anomaly Detection in Time Series Data with [TOOL_NAME], Data Visualization, Big data, and many more.

I always maintained sync between my extracurriculars and academic curriculum as I cherish a multidisciplinary approach to learning. I participated in and organized numerous cultural events in different departments of the college including tech seminars and festivals. I was the head coordinator in the management department and dealt with hundreds of people regularly. During the administrative work, I discovered my inner abilities to lead a team of people and influence them by effectively conveying my ideas. I was the core team member of the [CLUB_NAME] club of our university. In 2019, I led a talented team of individuals to participate in the [EVENT_NAME] organized by [ORGANIZATION_NAME] where we earned one of the finalists' positions. To further continue the legacy in 2020, I again took charge and led a team of 6 to showcase our project based on "Underground water pipeline leakage detectors and management of pipeline networks" for which we were awarded with 2nd position in [COMPETITION_NAME] and [COMPETITION_NAME]. We were appreciated for our efforts by fellow colleagues and professors which was a profound experience.

To test my textbook knowledge, I made sure to apply them in the practical world. Since 2017, I have been on a voyage of achieving versatility as a Marketing and Partnership executive, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, entrepreneur, in various companies. I single-handedly made various marketing strategies for a company [COMPANY_NAME] which I co-founded in 2018. One of my greatest achievements has been Entrepreneurship and a sole proprietor role at [COMPANY_NAME], a virtual coding school. There, I helped initiate an online in-person coding program amid the Covid-19 pandemic to help the community by imparting my knowledge and skills online. I increased the strength of students with 60 new middle and elementary school students from multiple countries in a three-month-long online course. My managing and marketing skills came in very handy. Along with these, I also devised the python coding workshops and curriculum. After graduating from college in 2021, I have been working as a Data Scientist at [COMPANY_NAME] since June, where I am working on a project for the largest pharmaceutical company which deals with R&D, Procurement, and Finance domains. There, my major responsibility includes developing "game-changing" digital analytics for clients. I also incorporate Cost Simulation functionality structured with all 4 layers – UI/visualization, logic/analytics services, data, technology infrastructure for a complete digital analytics platform. All these activities have helped me carve a holistic personality for myself. But I believe I have a long way to go to fully unlock my potential in the domain of Data Sciences.

I now am confident of taking up new challenges to diversify my skills. Keeping my long-term goals in mind, I have decided to pursue a Masters degree in Data Science at the prestigious [UNIVERSITY_NAME]. One big reason for this choice is the alignment of the value of having a futuristic vision that I share with this university. Having a diverse group of students and living in a multicultural environment will help me develop as a well-rounded individual, besides just an expert at my skills. The institution will help me develop my ability to research, analyze and critically assess the material and techniques relevant to solving problems. With an improved knowledge of Data and Computing along with digital communications, I plan to work as a professional in different industries and lead ambitious projects at visionary organisations. My long-term goal is to get into managerial and administrative roles within my niche.
