STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Right from my childhood, I had a strong attraction toward Math. The curiosity of finding solutions from several given conditions drove me to dive deep into this field. I was intrigued by the logical and analytical aspects of the subject as it led me to visualize a situation that I was good at. My first result in analyzing a problem was when I was playing cricket representing my school. The case was such that I had underperformed in a few matches, and then as I started analyzing my shot selection, I understood my flaws and corrected the mistakes I was committing, which changed my entire game. I could see the results in the following matches where I could contribute to the team. This was a big lesson for me where I learned that if I analyze and find the root cause, half of my problems can be solved.

To continue this interest further ahead, I decided to pursue my studies in the said field. Therefore, I chose B.E in Information Science and Technology from [UNIVERSITY_NAME], [CITY]. During the four years of my bachelor's, one of my favorite subjects was Design and Analysis of Algorithms. Here, I learned how different algorithms work, which dealt with fundamental data structures. I also enjoyed studying Big Data Analytics in my final semester. Through this subject, I understood data architecture, Data Mining, Data Visualization, data processing tools, and the different algorithms used along with their purpose. By studying these areas, I developed a stronghold towards my analytic interest and realized that I would pursue my higher studies in Data Analytics.

As projects play a major role in an academic career, so did mine during my bachelor's. One of my best projects was "Predicting Taxi Demand using Machine Learning and Data Science." The objective of this project was to predict the accuracy of algorithms used in taxi demand prediction. Here, six models were tested and the best accuracy among them was determined. The project included Data Mining, Data Cleaning, Clustering Data, and making predictions using machine learning models, which in turn led me to develop knowledge related to these. I have also published a paper on this project at "[JOURNAL_NAME]". This whole project experience got me more intrigued in pursuing my master's in Data Analytics. I worked on another project on the Data Base Management System (DBMS) which focused on creating a fully-fledged website for a car rental company. Through this project, my skills in a programming language like SQL, HTML, and CSS were highly polished for both backend and frontend development of the website.

My work experience was kickstarted during my bachelor's itself through internships. I was among the few students at [UNIVERSITY_NAME] to work as an intern for the IoT center of excellence at the campus itself. The internship period from July 2019 to August 2019 polished my skills in various ways. My role at this month-long internship was to be a web application developer. I was a part of the ideation and development of the campus management system, which was a tool required by the college. In this internship, I extensively learned how an individual could support the entire team, and I got a glimpse of the real IT field, which made this internship a fun experience.

After joining the company, I finished my training period in three months against the usual six months and studied for the final year of my bachelor's. Once assigned to the team, I started working productively and gained a 100% success result. On my performance, I was given an opportunity to handle low complexity escalations where I performed the root cause analysis and supported the stakeholders in resolving the issue. I also completed an internal course, "Data at [COMPANY_NAME]". This course focused on data extraction and analysis at the [COMPANY_NAME] database. After completing this course, I was involved in several ad-hoc tasks such as Data Extraction, Data Clustering, and Work Allocation with the team, based on resource availability. Due to my excellence at work, I was awarded a rating of "Exceeds Expectation" by my manager, which happens to be the highest level of appreciation.

Recognizing my thorough interest in the analytical field, I am keen to gain more knowledge by pursuing a master's degree in Data Analytics. I see it as a booming opportunity for my future as data is the future of the technological world. I have secured plans for my future, and I am confident that this degree will bolster my dreams. After completing my course, I plan to work for data-oriented companies like [COMPANY_NAME_1], [COMPANY_NAME_2], [COMPANY_NAME_3], etc., and gain advanced expertise. I plan to open my consulting firm and provide employment opportunities to other aspirants in the years to come.

As the USA is one of the most developed continents, I believe studying here will greatly benefit me. The USA's advanced technologies and education system are enough to prepare students for a bright future ahead. Also, the globally acclaimed universities in the USA will benefit me to work at higher positions in India or overseas ahead in the future. I am also attracted to the high student-intake rate in the USA, which makes this land a multi-cultural environment where I can easily blend and learn from my batchmates.

The Big Data Analytics course at [UNIVERSITY_NAME] attracted me to step here and pursue my master's from this university. I am quite intrigued by the research opportunities available here. The excellent faculty members and their recognitions drove me to choose [UNIVERSITY_NAME] as my school for master's. I am certain that studying under their expertise will shape me as a better individual in the field of data analytics.
