STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Today, we are in the data-driven world where many actions are performed with the help of data. I believe that strong programming skills are prerequisite and vital to pursue Master's in Data Analytics Engineering. My journey began when after school, I opted for a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology. I gained skills and knowledge when I studied courses such as Java Programming, Object-Oriented Programming and Predictive Analytics with R Programming. Moreover, my curriculum also gave me a strong base in the foundational courses required for the degree like Big Data Analytics, Data Warehousing and Data Mining and Database Management Systems.

I am an enthusiastic and experimental person who loves to not only explore new things but also learn them gradually. Due to my way of working, I was able to complete 4 projects during under graduation. Two of them have similar implementations in the algorithm and technology used. The first one was "Salary Prediction" and the second was "Sales Revenue Prediction". I used Machine Learning Multiple Regression algorithms and programmed them using Python, Sklearn Library, Numpy Library, Flask Framework and HTML. In the first one, I took three input features: experience, test score, and interview score. Based on this, the model predicts the salary of an individual using the algorithm and displays it on the webpage after submission of each by the end-user. In the second one, I tried to predict the revenue generated by companies through various advertising mediums like Television, Radio and newspapers. I used these three as input features to the model and predicted the revenue generated by a company which was then displayed on the webpage after submission of each by the end-user.

The COVID-19 pandemic has motivated me to explore new things. In my free time during the pandemic, I decided to develop a "COVID-19 India Tracker" which was my third project. In this project, I used datasets provided by [URL] and displayed it on a webpage that could be tracked at any time. I used only Python for the entire project; dash Framework, which is built over Flask Framework for developing a User Interface; Plotly to generate graphs; and Pandas for preprocessing the data.

I also interned at [COMPANY_NAME], as a Full Stack Engineer, where I learned full stack development with C# .NET. During my internship I worked in a 5-member team on a project to develop a web banking application called "Collateral Management Risk Assessment". My contribution was back-end development. I created a micro-services architecture using C#, ASP.NET core, Web API and MS SQL Server. We deployed this project on Microsoft Azure where I worked on Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines.

Due to my interest in programming, I participated in a coding contest called CodeVita Season 9 conducted by [COMPANY_NAME] in various countries and I was able to clear the first round with a rank of 7987 out of 350000 participants from 98 different countries.

Because of my eagerness to explore the field of data analytics I decided to opt a course on an online platform called [PLATFORM_NAME] where I completed a specialization course on Machine Learning which was offered by [UNIVERSITY_NAME] taught by [PROFESSOR_NAME] and [PROFESSOR_NAME]. It has covered fundamental topics of Machine Learning like Regression, Classification and Clustering. Also, I have taken up two certification exams in Database Management System offered by [ORGANIZATION_NAME] and Advanced Programming in C++ by [ORGANIZATION_NAME].

During my undergraduate study, I was a student facilitator, and we hosted an Annual Student Forum conducted by [ORGANIZATION_NAME] where students from various locations across India participated in the forum. The main motive was to find solutions to engineering problems that crop up in diverse businesses. It was then that the importance of data analytics, and that it is one of the most 'in demand' technologies. Also, that data is extremely fascinating to me because when analyzed it has far-reaching outcomes.

With the knowledge and skills gained over time, both [COMPANY_NAME] and [COMPANY_NAME] offered me a job. After I completed under graduation, I opted for [COMPANY_NAME], and took up the role of a Programmer Analyst in July 2021. I had finally entered the corporate world. I am currently working on a banking project with technology requirements in C#, ASP.NET, Webforms and MS SQL Server.

My experiences, propensity, and what I am planning for my future, has led me to [UNIVERSITY_NAME] to obtain a Master's degree in Data Analytics Engineering. This programme is tailored to meet my interests, covering a plethora of courses under a single umbrella. With state of art facilities, research labs and highly qualified faculties, I would be able to confidently build a skill-set that hold me in good stead throughout my professional life. Additionally, [UNIVERSITY_NAME]'s experiential-learning option can help me gain industry knowledge during my course which could be highly beneficial for my future accomplishments where I would like to see myself as a data analyst working at a reputed company.
