STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am [NAME], an energetic and highly motivated person from [CITY], the capital of Kerala, the southern state of India. I took up Civil Engineering for my Bachelor's Degree from [UNIVERSITY], which is one of the oldest colleges of Engineering in [CITY], Kerala (affiliated to [UNIVERSITY]). I very much relished each and every moment of learning and all the experience that college had gifted me with. I completed my high school from [HIGH SCHOOL], which is one of the highly reputed schools in [CITY], and I did my higher secondary education in [HIGH SCHOOL].

Outside of academics, I used to be actively involved in the cultural and other activities in college, often volunteering, participating as well as coordinating some of the events. I was the General Secretary of The Students Union and also an active coordinator of [EVENT NAME] 2016, which is our intercollegiate fest. I have been an active member of the National Service Scheme as well. I also got the opportunity to undertake a short internship at the Sewage Treatment Plant in [CITY] (capital of Kerala).

After B.Tech, I did a certified course in Professional in Building Design and Diploma in Project Planning and Management using Primavera from [TRAINING CENTER]. Further, I joined a reputed company in [CITY], Kerala named [COMPANY] as a Site Engineer. Thereafter I joined a national level scheme called Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme as the Accredited Engineer. Here I have to do site coordination, client meeting presentations, and team supervision. Also, I have to determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; and preparing cost estimates.

My father was a retired NRI from Saudi Arabia and now he is a businessman in Kerala who motivates me about the role of a Civil Engineer in a developing society. My mother is an exceptional homemaker who has also been instrumental in laying the solid cornerstones upon which my upbringing and success has been built. I have two siblings younger than me. The elder one's name is [NAME], who is currently starting to build his career as an HVAC Engineer in the company [COMPANY] after completing his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from [UNIVERSITY], [CITY]. My younger brother is doing his under graduation from the [UNIVERSITY]. I also got married last year and my wife is now at the final stage of completing her graduation in Biotechnology from the [UNIVERSITY].

The biggest of my lessons in this phase of my job as an Accredited Engineer was the realization that there is indeed a lot more to discover and an additional specialized qualification is necessary for improving my competency to work with such great schemes that envision great things like poverty alleviation, employment assurance, etc. by developing basic infrastructures. I understand the importance of Construction Project Management and how it helps in the execution of a project. I was exposed to the various aspects of Construction Project Management and interacted with Senior Executive Engineers involved with futuristic activities that thoroughly inspired me and reinforced my decision to pursue my postgraduate study in Construction Project Management from an internationally recognized institution.

The various choices of modules offered in this program, such as Building Economics, Procurement Strategy, Production Management, Project Appraisal and Finance, Project Risk Management, etc. have very much appealed to me and prompted me to consider this program as the next step of my academic pursuit. The course seems to be well designed for the same purpose: to enhance the qualifications of an undergraduate student and provide a proper pathway into his master's program. Besides, the Master's course in Advanced Project Management in Construction seems to have a wider scope and appears to be a much better stage for learning and growth compared to its counterpart in my country. I believe that through this program, my journey of knowledge acquiring will reach greater heights and my skill sets will expand and open new doors of learning and application leading to a well-guided pathway into my Master's program later on. The overall cumulative effect of my education and work experience had motivated me to search for suitable courses abroad, which I believe is the best step ahead for enhancing my knowledge and skills.

I researched extensively to discover the best university which gives a very astute program in Construction Management. On completion of this programme, I hope to return to my country with all the knowledge and experience that I can gather from my period of study at your esteemed university and it will help me secure employment in leading companies in my country such as [COMPANY], [COMPANY], [COMPANY], etc. as Project Engineer, and to work with the leading Engineers in these companies, which was one of my life's biggest dreams. For that, I understand the importance of building knowledge in Construction Management to complete the projects on time in a cost-effective way and I believe that this knowledge will give me the confidence to start my own company and to manage my projects in the future.
