Statement of Purpose

My inspiration for pursuing Business management as a career comes from my parents who are actively involved in the family business. Whilst they work together on new concepts, my mother does not involve herself in the operational aspects of our business; she handles the finances brilliantly and is fully involved in the brainstorming and the decision-making aspects. It has always fascinated me how they have managed and established a successful business together over the years, and since very early on in life I have wished that one day even I would like to own a business myself. As a result of my upbringing, I decided to seek higher education in the field of business and management.

I completed High School education from [HIGH_SCHOOL_NAME], [CITY] with a score of 7.4 GPA in class 10 and 68% in class 12. On the non-academic front, I actively participated in sports activities, played football for the school team, participated in the National Science Olympiad, where I was ranked 5th in order of merit. Computer aided Business has always fascinated me. Due to my penchant towards business, I pursued my academics with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration (Computer-Aided Management) at [UNIVERSITY_NAME], [CITY]. This program gave me an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of management and computer skills. This program kept me abreast of the latest technologies. The effective use of management talent and computer applications has equipped me to enter the competitive era as companies nowadays look for multi-skilled candidates. My favourite subjects were Business Economics, Marketing Management, Business Environment and Organizational Behaviour.

Apart from academics, I frequently worked for social causes. While I was elected as the President of the Rotaract Club of my college, I led multiple educational drives for the underprivileged children where we set up camps to educate and spread awareness among the uneducated and try to contribute towards society's welfare. We also organized and initiated cleanliness campaigns within the city. Fund raising events were organised in the college to support these drives, which in turn honed my interpersonal and leadership skills and exposed me to a wide variety of circumstances where problem solving and decision-making skills were required.

I also indulge in networking activities and literary events through the Rotaract clubs every now and then, which helps me improve my communication skills and establish a strong network with people from different communities.

On the training front, I underwent a three-month market research training program at [COMPANY_NAME], [CITY], which gave me an insight into planning and analysis. Data was collected and astute reports were produced, which presented the final outputs of projects to the marketing team.

After completing my bachelor's degree in 2016, I wanted to pursue a master's degree in Business Administration. Unfortunately, due to medical conditions, I was not able to continue my studies and job. My recovery took a long time, and in September 2018 I joined [COMPANY_NAME], a manufacturer of eyeglasses, as a customer service executive. My role at the company is to achieve the assigned sales target and ensuring that the customers are satisfied at all times, which requires prompt response and solutions to their challenges at any given time. I firmly believe that customer relationship is a very important part of building a sustainable business.

My core competencies are not limited to good communication and interpersonal skills, but I am also a highly organized, motivated, and result-oriented person who values time over other things and believes in leading by example. In my free time, I indulge in reading journals and research papers related to applied science and business.

Going ahead, for professional growth, it is essential to have a Master's degree which would also help in understanding the global market and the international business culture. It would also allow numerous doors to be opened to network with individuals in the same line of work all over the globe, something that many working professionals or business-person desire in today's world.

I chose the UK as my study destination as it is one of the most cosmopolitan countries in Europe, with a state-of-the-art education system. An MSc Degree in International Business Management with work placement at [UNIVERSITY_NAME], would help me solve complex problems and think critically by exposing me to real world situations. I will also get an opportunity to learn about all the important functions of a twenty first century business, and thereby choose a specialization of my interest area.

What I seek the most is the knowledge that I would be acquiring not just from the faculty, but from the experiences of students coming from multiple backgrounds and cultures. The program would help me cross barriers of communication by providing access to a community of people belonging to different parts of the world.

My long-term goal is to be able to apply my business and management skills to finally develop my personal brand in the workplace and become an industry expert which would add value to my life as well as to the reputation of the organization, I work for. I want to create a workspace that values ideas over hierarchy and encourage people to speak up. To achieve my goal, the master's degree from [UNIVERSITY_NAME] will play a vital role and convert my dreams into reality. I am looking forward to being a part of your esteemed institution and earnestly hope that my application will be considered.
