Statement of Purpose

Right from childhood, my profound interest and boundless curiosity towards the human body, various plant and animal species, their characteristics and variations and of course the microorganisms captured my imagination and inspired me to study about them in detail. This fired my interest in Biology, Genetics, Food Technology and Bioinformatics and the transition from interest to passion happened naturally. My affinity towards biology and life sciences motivated me to take up Biology, Physics and Chemistry as my major during my higher secondary school education. My undergraduate education in B.Tech at [UNIVERSITY_1] shaped my outlook on biological sciences and research by helping me develop a strong theoretical and practical base and set the path for my career. A deep desire to extend my knowledge and a cherished ambition to pursue a career in the field of Biotechnology propelled me to pursue a Master's degree at your acclaimed university.

My fascination with Biology and Life Sciences gained fresh impetus during my undergraduate studies and it would not be out of place to say that my schooling and college education played a pivotal role in determining my future. As a Pre University student, I excelled in Science and my proclivity to the course drove me to perform creditably and I cleared my higher secondary with a 94% score. I was also the recipient of an award that offered me approximately 50% scholarship. I was fortunate during this time to have teachers who saw my interest in Science and encouraged me to continue broadening my understanding of the subject and developing my skills. I have a deep appreciation for the breadth of this field and the nearly endless possibilities for a more comprehensive study of the subject. It is my central goal to gain an advanced scientific education in a more rigorous, elite, and global environment. With the firm foundation laid by my undergraduate coursework, a Master's degree in Biotechnology is therefore ideal for my professional goals.

My academic experience thus far has provided me with a wide range of practical knowledge and skills that will be immensely useful when studying overseas at the Master's level. One of the highlights of my undergraduate years was writing a research paper on application of BL23 strain for diagnosis of colon cancer and other commercial uses titled 'In Silico Prediction and Evaluation of the Selected Microbial strain with Prebiotic Properties.' A defining experience during my undergraduate studies was undertaking a four week internship program at [COMPANY_1] in [CITY_1] as Quality Control Intern. Through my internship, I have gained new insight into many aspects of my subject in addition to cultivating a disciplined attitude and a pragmatic approach towards theoretical concepts and a relentless zeal to learn how to apply the same in real-life scenarios. It was during this time that I developed a keen interest in understanding and performing excellent manufacturing and laboratory practices not to mention undertaking a wide range of tests with sophisticated testing instruments, devices and softwares. Furthermore, I was responsible for making documentation in compliance with ISO standards. As my internship progressed, I carried out Test Method Validation (TMV), and calibrating Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) for dimensional testing which further fuelled my interest in exploring the various avenues of biological science and technology. As a person who relishes a fast learning pace, I was able to evince a great deal of interest to towards my internship which consequently prompted me to expend tremendous effort and meticulous research to delve deeper and gain a more thorough understanding and hands on experience in biotechnology methods and its application in different industries which aid in healthcare and life sciences.

Concurrent to my studies, I ensured that I did not miss out on any extracurricular activities for a holistic educational experience. My scholastic pursuits have been complemented by a healthy interest in a variety of extracurricular activities. In all my endeavors, I pushed myself to give my best which I strongly believe will stand me in good stead in a challenging study environment. As a dedicated and punctilious student who constantly sought knowledge outside the regular curriculum, I have participated in various activities that have allowed me to enhance my leadership, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills. I was elected committee member of '[CLUB_1]' which was one of the most significant clubs at the university and wholeheartedly engaged in a variety of events and workshops both as a host as well as a participant. I am comfortable adapting to new situations and interacting with people, and I have no doubt these qualities will be tremendously useful when studying abroad.

Considering my passion and interest, a Master's degree in Biotechnology will give flight to my overall career aspirations. I am assured that this program will empower me with in depth knowledge and advanced interdisciplinary training and a thorough understanding of the dynamics of the healthcare domain. I am excited to learn to lead work-based teams, participate effectively in projects and gain extensive experience, and first-hand knowledge of industry trends. I believe that my educational background has instilled in me the qualities required to meet the rigor of this demanding course.
