Statement of Purpose

Ever since I was an eight-year-old, computers and technology have intrigued me immensely. Growing up in this golden age of technology, I witnessed the technological advancements shaping our lives. I have always been driven by the desire to "create" a capability that transcends passive knowledge acquisition throughout my life. It is the undiscovered road that has always captivated me more than familiar terrain, which drove me to choose Computer Science as my bachelor's degree despite having no or very little prior understanding of programming or computers. My love for this field kept growing with every discovery I made. When I solved an interesting problem in CyberSecurity, I realized the power of Data and Artificial Intelligence in the world of computing. Furthermore, this has become the driving force for all my work in Data Science & AI so far and furthers my interest to pursue my higher studies in Data Science at one of the world's prestigious institutes, i.e., [UNIVERSITY_NAME].

During my undergraduate studies, I have not restricted myself just to the classroom and college. Instead, I explored various sub-fields in computer science, from developing an operating system for a micro-controller to designing an autonomous quadcopter. Furthermore, one problem statement, primarily from the [ORGANIZATION_NAME], got my attention, i.e., the Intrusion Detection System. I have spent more than 2.5 years on par with academics in solving the problem and productizing it. The Intelligent Intrusion Detection System that I developed, with the help of Deep Learning, analyses the user's behavior and alarms the Network administrator if any malicious activity is detected. My passion and determination have led me in framing a business plan, marketing strategy and thus founding [COMPANY_NAME]. This development has attracted like-minded researchers across the globe, winning a grant from the [COMPANY_NAME] Research team. In addition, I have got many opportunities to present my work and research posters at multiple international conferences such as [CONFERENCE_NAME] in Singapore. I have also published two research articles on [PLATFORM_NAME].

Later, in search of new challenges, I started working for [COMPANY_NAME] as a Data science team lead. At [COMPANY_NAME], I got a chance to lead the NLP team responsible for developing the first Hyper-automation platform with autonomous AI for business and IT. I have assisted them in developing a Natural language understanding module that successfully worked in understanding IT domain-specific languages with an accuracy of 92%. Also, I have had an opportunity to build a precise enterprise search engine that can index data intelligently from different sources and performs the search operation with a precision of 0.82 and a recall of 0.77. Together, the enterprise search engine, NLU module, and respective RPA processes have become the first hyper-automation platform that can automate 60-80% of IT tickets for an organization with more than 2L ticket flow at their IT service desks on average. Managing the seven-person NLP team to build this unique AI system while interacting with customers to understand the requirements, management for the deadlines, and various developers has been quite tricky yet very interesting.

On the other hand, Teaching always has been one of my passions, and I strongly believe in Aristotle's words, "Those who know, do, those that understand, teach," which led me to share my learnings with the communities comprising students, professionals, developers, and faculty under my not-for-profit initiative. I have trained 45000+ people and 1200+ faculty across the globe on different computer science concepts and technologies involving some advanced topics in AI/ML and Cybersecurity. [COMPANY_NAME] AI and [COMPANY_NAME] have been constant supporters for me in this journey. Additionally, Since 2018 I have been volunteering to work as a Mentor at the [PROGRAM_NAME] for the [ORGANIZATION_NAME] organization, leading one of the open-source projects with them. These experiences have connected me to a global network of people and assisted me in personal grooming and communication capabilities.

I have won various awards and recognitions in the past couple of years due to my hard work and capabilities, including the India prime 100 researchers award from [ORGANIZATION_NAME], the Young Achiever Award from the [ORGANIZATION_NAME], and the Top 100 innovators and influencers (globally) from [ORGANIZATION_NAME]. Besides my technical skills, I am an avid traveler, amateur photographer cum writer. I have published two full-length books (fiction & non-fiction). I started a poetry series named "[SERIES_NAME]," which describes the photos I have personally captured traveling 26/28 states and 7/8 UTs in India. This series has got a great response in the Indian poetry & Photography community and helped me gain one of the prestigious recognitions from [ORGANIZATION_NAME] and more recognitions from respective local communities. In addition, I played Chess and bagged a few tournaments at my city level in the past.

My future goal is to pursue my dream of becoming a well-versed data scientist and serve my country by delivering and working in solving open research issues by using AI. My coursework and life experiences have prepared me for research opportunities that I find in the diverse field of computer science. T-shaped individual and position me in a highly competitive environment that fosters my personal growth.
