Statement of Purpose
Curiosity is the mother of all inventions – a simple quote but with a profound meaning. This quote had a great influence on my life from my school days. Whether it was building an unorthodox science project in a science exhibition or solving a math problem using my own method, I was always tempted to know more. As a kid, I was thrilled with the pace at which technology was changing the world, and I naturally got inclined towards the latest technological inventions. This is when I decided to pursue my career in information technology. Though I have had my fair share of ups and downs, I never backed out from trying new challenges even if it was not my cup of tea. I truly believe this helped me to achieve my various goals and taught me to learn from my mistakes.
Talking about my family, my parents are doctors, frontline warriors who have been working for over 25 years without taking a single day off. My elder sibling is pursuing an MBA in British Columbia from [UNIVERSITY] while my younger sister is studying bachelor's in law.
Elucidating my education life till now, I did my undergraduate studies in Computer Science with 9.17 CGPA from [UNIVERSITY]. During this period, I explored various fields of my interest.
In the first year itself, I built a mini project for my father's clinic management which later became the blueprint for one of my final year projects. I used Python as the front end and MySQL as the database. I used Python's Tkinter to develop my UI. Inbuilt widgets such as entry, text, radio button and label were used to design the front end where patient's data had to be inserted. Coming to the database, I used MySQL to design tables such as Patients_data, Doctors_data, and Receipt. However, when I redeveloped this project in my final year in C# and MSSQL Server, I added more features such as Bill_details, Nurse_details, Prescriptions, and Rooms. Mapping cardinalities was immensely used as one doctor could be assigned to many patients and one nurse could be working with one or more doctors. Also, patients who came to the clinic would either be admitted or not, based on which the rooms table was linked with the patient table's primary key. A receipt generation module was also implemented when the patient was discharged; the receipt was generated with prescription.
The other major project I built was on Image Steganography. As a resume contains valuable information about a person and if landed in the wrong hands can cause damage, the main idea behind this project was to build two modules: one at the interviewee's side and the other at the interviewer's side. The sender will choose a combination of an encryption algorithm, suppose Triple-DES and RSA, from the dropdown menu and encrypt his/her resume in an image. This combination of two encryptions will only be informed on the receiver side, which will decrypt that image using the same combination. I used C# as the front end and MSSQL Server 2008 as the backend.
I truly believe knowledge is beneficial only when it is shared, and as a firm believer, I tried my best to share it. To throw some light, I conducted various workshops for my classmates and juniors. One of the workshops was on Digital Marketing and Google SEO which I grasped during my internship days. In this workshop, I talked about [PLATFORM] and how we can reach the target audience using e-mail marketing. I also discussed how bidding works on Google Ads and which should be used on websites. Additionally, I conducted one more workshop for first-year students on the use of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects which I learned during my first year.
I am currently pursuing my M.C.A. from [UNIVERSITY] with a cumulative CGPA of 9.75. During this period, I have gained some advanced knowledge of my already acquired skills such as SQL, Java, and Android Studio, and some new expertise, namely management skills. I am also working on an On-Road Vehicle Assistance project through which one can remotely ask for help that is nearby without stepping out of the vehicle.
I am working as a technical consultant for a European card payment system. The main underlying point of this job profile is that I must always be innovative. I have to make sure the ACID properties of SQL are maintained throughout all card organizations, namely VISA, Mastercard, and Dankort.
Other than computer science, I also had active participation and secured prizes in various events such as debates, fashion shows, advertisement making, and many others.
My goal in life is to be a lifelong learner. My passion to explore the field of computer science can be seen from my academic achievements, research work, as well as jobs and internships that I pursued. Studying an MS in Computer Science at your esteemed university, I would like to further delve deeper into the specialization I already possess and gather advanced-level knowledge as well as incremental research skills that can help me thrive in my career.
