Statement of Purpose

Once W. Clement Stone famously said "whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve," and my mother proved to me how true that statement is. I am constantly in awe of my mother as a leader and as a smart business woman. I watched her start a successful business, manage our household, and raise me and my cousins all while facing many hardships. We struggled mainly due to my alcoholic father who was either abusive or indifferent and at one point faced near bankruptcy, but my mother always had an optimistic outlook on life and took on challenges that others normally would not. She started a Daycare and I would rush home after school to work there and also conducted tuitions in the evenings to make ends meet. We took care of several children, some with speech disorders who needed extra special care, because of which I learned how to be responsible, decisive, reliable, confident, and empathetic. She always included me in making major life-changing decisions even when I was just a kid and taught me problem-solving skills and negotiation tactics. She always dreamed big and believed in hard work which ultimately inculcated in me a drive to do my best and achieve the goals that I set for myself.

I have always been a model student and developed a passion for medicine and healthcare thanks to my brilliant biology teachers. I went on to do my Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Microbiology, and Biochemistry at [UNIVERSITY], and it was a great learning experience for me. The lab was very well equipped and I had a great time performing experiments there. Soon, I was placed at [COMPANY] as a trainee. I was one of the fastest trainees to finish the training process and have now scribed for more than 2.5 years for several doctors using different EHRs across U.S.A. Scribing is a high-pressure, process-oriented job with strict time constraints, and to scribe in real time, one has to be a quick learner who is efficient, organised, and focused. Working as an [COMPANY] scribe, I am trained to be extremely detail-oriented and HIPAA compliant, and I have only had positive reviews from my doctors and peers. Gradually, I learnt how the healthcare system works and more importantly how any establishment operates. I had many roles to play, and from being a team player to becoming a team leader, I took part in every event my company had to offer and brought home many trophies. I got recognised for my potential and work ethic and quickly climbed up the career ladder. I also grabbed a new and unique opportunity to become the social media executive for my company which not only has been fun but enlightening as well. I do feel satisfied after a day's work knowing that I play a small role in providing healthcare for several patients, but I am ready to do more in the field of healthcare. I believe my calling is to fight against addiction and the opioid crisis is still something I hear at least twice a week, and I want to work with doctors to do my part in helping resolve this issue. I believe that pursuing Healthcare Management will propel my career forward and help me take one step closer to making my vision a reality.

The UK is a beautiful country and has a great reputation of offering international students remarkable training in business management with courses that I feel are designed to fit my needs. The extremely supportive UK government, the unmatched infrastructural capabilities, and the weight the post graduate program carries made studying in UK the most obviously fitting choice. I trust that this university along with the talented and experienced faculty will make me a skilled and proficient professional in the field of Healthcare management.

As an international student intending to pursue my post graduate degree, I understand fully the financial obligations I would have. I have secured a loan in order to ensure that all the expenditures such as tuition fee, accommodation and living, commute, and any emergencies that I might have can be afforded. I did some research online and spoke to many of my friends living there and realised that taking an educational loan will suffice to pay all my bills on time. As I already took an educational loan once to do my Bachelor's degree, I would say I have some experience taking and clearing my loans.

After the post-graduate program, I would work alongside doctors to help resolve the opioid crisis and make healthcare more accessible to everyone. I am certain that I will have many wonderful experiences and have the time of my life in UK. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me.
