Statement of Purpose

Course: MSc International Hotel and Tourism Management Country: UK

"Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they do not quit." — [NAME].

This is a quote I read during my graduation, and I now live my hospitality dream by it. Through this quote, I have learned a wonderful thing: not to be afraid of failures and keep moving forward. I was part of the school hockey team and played in the district finals after winning zone level.

I chose subjects physics, chemistry, and mathematics after my 10th standard and scored 92%, scoring 1st position in my 12th class. I also took part in the Math Olympiad and Chemistry Olympiad during school. I got into [UNIVERSITY] by clearing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-NCHMCT). NCHMCT in the whole of India carries this exam; based on the ranking of this exam, admissions are given in all the IHMs in India. I did my Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from the [UNIVERSITY], in 2021. In this course, I have learned the operational aspect of the hospitality industry, and now I would like to learn the managerial part of the industry. [UNIVERSITY] has been India's top institute in the hospitality sector for 7-8 years.

I did an internship at [HOTEL_NAME], though I could not complete the whole internship due to the Covid pandemic. I did another internship at the hotel's coffee shop, [COMPANY_NAME]. I worked in F&B, Housekeeping, and the front office desk during the internship. I carried out all my responsibilities as allotted, whether day or night shift. I handled the Micros Opera system by myself, ironed table napkins, cleaned dishes, and helped front desk by putting tags on guest luggage.

I was part of the Food and Beverage Service and the service team of the Institute. I was part of the team responsible for the whole setup of the functions carried out in the Institute. These functions included the farewell party and the fresher's party. I was a part of the kitchen team for the food preparation of the Vande-Bharat train. In college, I was part of the entrepreneurship cell. I was part of the cleaning drive undertaken by our Institute at [LOCATION], where we cleaned the roads outside the gurudwara and made people outside the gurudwara aware of keeping the areas clean.

While working at [COMPANY_NAME], a customer ordered a cake a day before, which was to be delivered on time. However, due to some miscommunication between the bakery team and [COMPANY_NAME], delivery could not happen. When the customer arrived to receive the cake, he found out no order was placed with a bakery team. The customer got furious as it was a surprise cake for his wife's 30th birthday. After calming the customer, I offered the guest a free cup of coffee and offered him the most expensive cake that our coffee shop had at that moment. For this, I received a high note from the general manager's office that is a piece of appreciation.

This MSc in International Hotel and Tourism Management will enhance my capacity to think strategically across basic management disciplines. I will use my [UNIVERSITY] and internship experience to specialize in a particular field. The center's academic faculties are experts in their respective fields. Through a variety of activities and worldwide visiting speakers, I will interact with industry specialists. Moreover, I would like to improve my networking skills while making valuable global contacts for the future. Subjects such as Strategic Financial Management, Managing People Across Cultures, Corporate Risk Governance, and Revenue Management will be the ones I will try to understand in detail. The [UNIVERSITY] is a leading university in the hospitality and management industry. This will give me an excellent opportunity to network, learn from high-level industry faculty, and increase my professional profile.

I wanted to do masters in the previous intake, but during that period, classes were taken online due to covid; I felt that for the hospitality industry, I need to be able to learn physically and not virtually to take full advantage of what is being taught, as it is more of a practical industry rather than an online one. I want to learn the global ethics and methodologies of hospitality by doing a master's from global ethics.

I want to work with renowned hotels in the industry and then work with the biggest chains of hotels in the world. My family in India has a wedding venue. After completing my Master's program, I would be better positioned to deal with guests and introduce new aspects of the industry here in India. In the near future, I would start my hotel chain after having the resources and knowledge.
