STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

[NAME]

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING – [UNIVERSITY]

I pursued my degree in B. Tech, Automobile Engineering, with great enthusiasm for all machines. I particularly enjoyed studying Vehicle Dynamics, Automotive Engines and Systems, Electric Vehicles and Industrial Engineering. These subjects piqued my interest, and getting a master's degree stayed at the back of my mind. At the same time, I completed the program and started working as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at [COMPANY]. Later on, I was promoted to a Research Engineer and then a Senior Research Engineer within four years. With this foundation in mechanics and experience in the industry, I believe a master's degree will help me boost my career while also helping me keep updated with the latest trends in the industry. Therefore, I believe I have the momentum to pursue a Master's in Industrial Engineering at the esteemed [UNIVERSITY].

I am shifting gears to a parallel field, from Automobile Engineering to Industrial Engineering, because I am more interested in understanding the line of production. During my tenure at [COMPANY], I regularly visited the manufacturing plant. At this place, I was exposed to various processes involved in producing components of brakes assembly, such as casting, CNC, mixing and curing for brake pads. During this time, I realized the importance of Operation Research and Lean Manufacturing techniques. The entire production system solidified the long-held fascination for the particular field.

To expand my horizon during my college years, I visited the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) lab, and the FSAE vehicles there caught my attention. After a rigorous screening process involving interviews and task rounds, I became a part of it. Then, I was responsible for designing and integrating the chassis frame according to the FSAE rulebook. Later on, I started a parallel project, SAE BAJA, with a team of 25 people. I led the team as we developed and tested an All-Terrain Vehicle. The vehicle was shortlisted among the top 5 for the Best Engineering Design. Further, we also won the award for the best acceleration, bagging the pole position for the main BAJA endurance race. I also drafted 06 executive presentations and reports to facilitate sales, design and process improvement for this project. Further, I researched Friction Stir Welding.

Continuing my learning streak, I did an Internship at [COMPANY], where I got my first hands-on experience of cars and their systems. Then, I did another internship at [COMPANY], where I was an advisor and communicated with customers and technicians on a daily basis. These experiences gave me a raw engineering experience. Besides, I developed my communication skills and patience during this time.

During my time at [COMPANY], I worked on several challenging projects. Most important of them all being in Durability and Crash. We worked on Modeling and Simulations for Chassis Sub Frame and Welding in HyperMesh, Performing Analysis on Fatigue Life of Brackets, and Expertise in Plastic Component Modeling and Shell Mesh of Bumpers.

I was also part of several projects such as Finite Element Modeling and Simulations for Noise, Vibration & Harshness analysis of Car Brakes, Modeling and Performing Modal Map & Strength analysis for Steering Assemblies, Expertise in solid modeling (HEXA & TETRA), and Machine Learning-Based Stiffness and Stress of Torque Member. I was also the lead of a team of 6 people assigned to modeling CBS & CMDPS assemblies for post-processing and analyzing the output of Stress analysis of major components in Brakes. I received a lot of appreciation and awards for my work at this company. It includes a winner title for Idea Board (Helio display in cars) for the first quarter of 2021 and Top Performer 2020 in recognition for achieving noise reduction goals.

Throughout my life, I balanced my academics with my deep love of sports. I am a volleyball player, and my team has won as many as 12 tournaments across state-level college sports fests. Further, I was the leader of the team that secured the National Championship in Volleyball. I am also a badminton player, and I have won numerous tournaments at the university and corporate levels. I was also a part of organizing the [UNIVERSITY] Sports Fest for Four Years. Continuing on my streak for sports, I played a crucial role in starting a sports club in [COMPANY].

As someone who firmly believes in giving back to society, I have volunteered in several charitable events. I established a CSR activity by pooling a fund during the lockdown period at the start of the Pandemic. We provided cooked food and groceries for over 1000 families at distressing times. I also volunteer regularly to help people during emergencies as a part of an NGO named [ORGANIZATION].

With this rich chronicle of expertise and experience, I now wish to improvise myself with the advanced knowledge a Masters' in Industrial Engineering can provide me with at the distinguished [UNIVERSITY]. The possibility of renewing my education in a formal institution seems challenging and exciting to me. Further, it would be a privilege to learn from [PROFESSOR] and [PROFESSOR]. I plan to pursue research in the field of Design and Manufacturing in industry or academia. Down the line, I envision myself leading a team of a production line based on data science, Machine learning & Artificial intelligence in the automotive sector.
